GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

Responsibility for overseeing the planning, coordinating, administering, and managing the activities of the process engineering, technical, maintenance and operation functions of the Clyde plant. The primary responsibility of the Plant Manager is to oversee the department supporting production by establishing, providing, and maintaining the process engineering and technical disciplines required to ensure that robust manufacturing processes are achieved to meet the plant's productivity, delivery, quality, and safety objectives. 


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for overseeing planning, coordinating, administering, and managing the activities of the manufacturing process engineering, maintenance and production functions. 
  • Responsible for the efficient and cost-effective repair and maintenance of all related plant equipment, buildings, and grounds.
  • Responsible for building, growing, and driving teams of the plant manager maintenance manager, process engineering, and tooling supervisor on delivering on strategic goals.
  • Oversee all process engineering, technical, maintenance, and production personnel.
  • Manage the development of appropriate departmental standards, methods, policies, procedures, and documentation are in place and maintained.
  • Responsible for overseeing the implementation of an effective predictive and preventative maintenance program on all related plant assets and ensures it is maintained.
  • Ensures departmental discipline in all required procedures and ensures all molding and assembly process documentation as defined and established are maintained.
  • Ensures and directs the completion of accurate documentation associated with all maintenance procedures inclusive of preventative / predictive maintenance and emergency repair activities.
  • Responsible to oversee the departmental organizational structure by assigning responsibilities, and delegating authority.
  • Monitors and analyzes molding and assembly process performance for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor associated plant equipment to better asset utilization. Continue to monitor the effectiveness and utilization of plant assets and oversee improvement plans to continuously improve utilization indices.
  • Collaborates with departments in solving quality problems involving molding, tooling, and equipment, and drives improvement and process changes that improve cost and efficiency.
  • Oversees the development and validation of new production processes as well as upgrading existing production processes.
  • Initiates business cases for new capital equipment or more cost-effective processing methods. 
  • Collaborate with Plant Leadership Team to identify strategic objectives and goals for future manufacturing processes and/or operations.
  • Manages process evaluations, troubleshooting, and establishes process engineering protocols. 
  • Collaborates with manufacturing in the launch of new programs.
  • Oversees specifications for new or improved equipment, and participates in equipment design in coordination with designers, vendors, and other engineering groups.
  • Enforce the appropriate safety policies and procedures to ensure total compliance of OSHA regulations.
  • Collaborates with Leadership on RPS strategic plan by meeting the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual KPI metrics.
  • Oversee departmental PGO (Personal Growth Opportunity) to understand the needs of your development and the development of the maintenance, process, and tooling, and production departments.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS

  • BS in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of injection molding and heavy industrial tooling preferred 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/TASKS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic competencies. Must have a proven track record that demonstrates these competencies.
  • Working knowledge of plant material feed systems, and robots (Wittmann, UR, and or Fanuc is an asset).
  • Strong functional knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance procedures and practices. Must have a proven track record that demonstrates these competencies.
  • Must be a strong leader and team player. 
  • Must demonstrate positive people skills.
  • Must be able to communicate intelligently and calmly.
  • Must have excellent knowledge and expertise in molding machines, materials, equipment, and processes.
  • Must have better than average computer skills and math skills.
  • Must have ability to manage multiple departments and projects.
  • Ability to work under significant deadlines.
