Position Name: Plant Manager
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
FLSA Status: Salaried Exempt

Position Summary:
As the leader of the production team, the individual holding this position is responsible for the total operational leadership and day-to-day management of a plastics injection molding manufacturing facility. This pivotal role oversees production, shipping, purchasing, scheduling, mold and machine processing and maintenance teams. The successful candidate ensures all safety protocols, quality standards and productions schedules are consistently met or exceeded.
Edge Plastics offers a competitive starting salary range of $125,000 to $135,000 (based on experience) with an annual Performance Management Bonus (maximum of 25% of annual salary) based on company and personal performance. Job Responsibilities:
The list is a comprehensive list meant to represent the most common or important duties of the position. Other duties may be required and/or assigned.
Operational Leadership: Oversee daily operations across safety, quality, scheduling, production, shipping, maintenance, and administration.
Performance Metrics: Drive plant performance by defining clear metrics, expectations, and goals.
Continuous Improvement: Partner with executive management to optimize injection mold manufacturing processes, enhance workflow efficiencies, and implement lean methodologies.
Asset & Capital Management: Direct maintenance teams to ensure peak equipment and facility performance. Leads mold and processing teams to meet target cycle times, drive down scrap rates, and maintain rigorous quality standards for all finished goods. Collaborate with the COO on capital planning and project implementation.
Supply Chain & Budgeting: Oversee inventory, materials management, spending, and headcount budgets to ensure production demands are met cost-effectively.
Team Leadership: Direct and mentor a salaried management team, including the Operations Manager, Processing Manager, Maintenance Manager, Shift Supervisors, Shipping Manager, Scheduling Manager, Purchasing Manager, and Quality Control/Training Manager.
Talent & Culture: Establish performance goals aligned with corporate objectives. Partner with Human Resources on training, compliance, policy enforcement, and disciplinary actions to foster a collaborative, team-oriented culture.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor or master's degree in operations management, Business Management or a related field.
  • 8-10 years of senior plant management level experience in a high-speed manufacturing and operations environment.
  • Proven background in plastic injection molding environment is highly desired, experience overseeing automated/robotic equipment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success managing to the ISO or equivalent quality standards.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement tactics, raw materials management and process discipline.
  • Knowledge of production processes, raw materials, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Proficient in ERP systems, preferably Dassault systems.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Suite products with a strong emphasis on Excel.

  • Ability to successfully build, lead and work as a team to reach company goals in an environment in which a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, in a professional tone and manner (both verbal and written means) expectations & directives to manufacturing staff.
  • Results driven, analytical, self-motivated and detail oriented with the ability to logically identify alternative solutions or approaches to complex problems.
  • Ability to analyze written material and properly forecast/recommend based on assessment.
  • Ability to multi-task with a high sense of urgency. Track record of excellent judgment and decision-making ability.
  • Ability to physically move throughout the plant and perform essential duties of production floor, ability to read, speak and communicate through both oral and written means.
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule. Typical work hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, but there are times when this person will be working outside of their normal hours (evenings, overnights, weekends) to accomplish the necessary workload.
