Job description

Materials Manager (Full-Time)

This position will be responsible for the overall management of the procurement functions within Ohio Valley Surgical Hospital (OVSH). The Materials Manager reports directly to the (CFO) Chief Financial Officer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • In accordance with written policies and standards of care, is responsible for overseeing the materials department and materials department staff of the hospital.
  • Maintains adequate inventory levels by checking shelves and automated inventory system and establishes par levels for all supplies.
  • Responsible for maintaining the Hospital’s material purchasing agreements.
  • Interfaces with appropriate departments to ensure proper order placement, follow-up and delivery of orders in a timely manner.
  • Maintains a positive relationship with sales representatives resolving issues and problems related to supplies or the delivery of supplies. Works with them on the best pricing and delivery options for the Hospital.
  • Establishes and maintains proper document flow and information updates for the Meditech system.
  • Responsible for contract utilization to optimize savings.
  • Recommend product standardization opportunities and ways to reduce costs.
  • Work with all clinical staff to understand needs and opportunities.
  • Develop dashboard of key performance indications (KPIs) to provide performance of the procurement cycle.
  • Works with Surgical Service leadership to ensure supplies are available for scheduled surgical cases.
  • Establish auditing measures to ensure contract compliance with vendors.
  • Responsible for ordering, stocking, and decrementing of inventory.
  • Establish controls to minimize leakage of supplies.
  • Implements and maintains all facets of the automated inventory system.
  • Conducts periodic physical inventory of implants and inventory items.
  • Manages staff to fulfill the procurement process.
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned in an efficient, effective, and constructive manner, complying with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical supplies and CPT, ICD 10 and HCPC codes.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a healthcare / hospital setting.
  • Intermittent physical mobility / activity including walking, standing, sitting, light lifting and pushing and pulling of carts. Must be able to bend body downward at the waist, be able to kneel.
  • Must be able to lift boxes and materials.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of management experience.
  • Functional in Microsoft office with strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Data Interface (EDI) processes for purchasing supplies.
