Position Description
Job Summary: A construction Foreman supervises a construction crew. The Foreman schedules work for the crew. The Foreman is expected to assist the crew wherever help is needed, including carrying out hard labor. The abilities to work in extreme temperatures, to work with hand and power tools and large equipment, to stand and walk for long periods of time, and to lift heavy objects are essential.
Foreman works under the supervision of the Project Manager. Foreman will communicate progress and needs to the Project Manager. It is the Foreman's responsibility to coordinate the daily operations of their crew. The Foreman will delegate responsibilities to crew members. They will maintain crew discipline, resolve conflicts and maintain crew morale. Additionally, Foreman's are expected to develop and maintain a strong sense of teamwork among the crew members.
The Foreman is expected to act as a role model, working alongside crewmembers, and demonstrate a positive work ethic. The Foreman will ensure work projects are completed satisfactorily and that safe working conditions are maintained at all times.
The Foreman will maintain records on attendance and crew activities and complete all project reports.
Foreman will maintain tool inventory and regular cleaning, sharpening, and repair of tools as needed.
The work of several crew members will be overseen, so it is important to make sure that they are doing the job in the correct manner. Behavior not beneficial to the goals of the project should be corrected immediately.
Foreman must be flexible and willing to change daily routine to adjust to weather, late delivery of materials and other unanticipated delays.
