Job description

We are seeking an experienced Scene Shop Foreman to lead our fabrication team and oversee daily shop operations. This role is responsible for team leadership, project execution, and estimating project costs to ensure builds are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of carpenters, welders, and fabricators
  • Oversee daily shop operations to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Collaborate with project managers, designers, and production teams to execute builds
  • Review drawings and plans to ensure accuracy and build feasibility
  • Prepare project estimates, including labor, materials, and fabrication costs
  • Assist with budget planning and cost tracking throughout project lifecycle
  • Maintain and manage material inventory and procurement
  • Ensure all builds meet quality standards and client expectations
  • Enforce safety protocols and OSHA compliance
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop environment
  • Track labor hours, materials, and project progress
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in scenic fabrication, trade show, theatrical, or similar industry
  • 2+ years in a leadership or foreman role
  • Strong knowledge of carpentry, welding, and fabrication techniques
  • Experience with estimating labor, materials, and production costs
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and design plans
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
