Coordinate library programs, including reading programs for youth; present book talks; and prepare supporting materials, such as bibliographies, resources guides, and special displays. Support a variety of library service areas, including reference assistance, youth and adult services programming, and performs specialized assignments in support of departmental needs.
Maintain on-site collections, including print materials, audiovisual resources, and government publications. Physical Class 3 - Moderate This class requires that the incumbent stand or walk most of the time with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects weighing over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds. Special Requirement Information: Required education must be fully met at the time of filing and clearly indicated on the application.
No Out-Of-Class or Withholds are allowed for this examination. *In order to receive credit for the required education, you must include a legible copy of all relevant official documents, including your diploma, transcript, or letter from an accredited institution at the time of filing or within seven (7) calendar days from application submission to LibraryExams@library.lacounty.gov and indicate your name, the exam name, and the exam number. Additional Information Our Assessment Process The assessment will consist of a structured oral interview and is worth 100% of your total score. The oral interview will assess: Customer Service and Community Engagement Information Service and Library Knowledge Judgement and Decision-Making Program Coordination and Outreach Problem-Solving Communication and Teamwork Applicants must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher to be added to the eligible list. SPECIAL INFORMATION Eligibility and Vacancy Applications will be processed as they are received and added to the list accordingly.
Applicants who passed the assessment(s) are placed on a list for a period of 12 months. We will use this list to fill vacancies in LA County Library as they occur. Available Shift Appointees will be required to work any shift, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
