Sales Representation (Home Energy Specialist)

Position Type: This is a full-time, sales exempt position. This position provides in-depth paid training when you begin your career here at HWE.

Compensation: This is a commission-based role with average earnings of $95,000 annually - top earners have potential to earn $250,000+ annually. Holiday and Paid time off are paid at $20 per hour.

Job Summary:

The Home Energy Specialist is responsible for helping homeowners become more energy efficient by performing Mass Save Home Energy Assessments. This role will be modeling homes in energy efficiency software, diagnosing energy usage problems and recommending energy saving measures such as insulation, and high efficiency heating and cooling.

  • Energy Assessment:
    • Conduct Mass Save home energy assessments.
    • Utilize energy efficiency software to model homes and generate comprehensive energy savings reports.
    • Recommend energy-saving measures such as insulation, LED lighting, and high-efficiency HVAC systems.
  • Sales and Customer Service:
    • Initiate sale and secure service contracts.
    • Provide exceptional customer service and educate homeowners on energy efficiency benefits.
    • Use effective sales techniques to ensure customer satisfaction and generate referrals.
    • Organize and guide customer through paperwork processes.
  • Installation and Documentation:
    • Install energy-saving products during assessments, including thermostats, water saving devices, and power strips.
    • Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and promptly.
    • Professional Development and Collaboration:
    • Continually improve product knowledge and sales skills through ongoing learning, including staying informed on the latest energy-saving options and technologies.
    • Collaborate with internal divisions to cross-sell products and services.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Education & Experience:

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Valid MA driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel required.
  • BPI Certification.
  • Previous customer service and sales experience preferred.
  • MASS Save program knowledge a plus.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with strong organization and time management skills.
  • Must work independently as the role is primarily field based.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills.
  • Outgoing, flexible, and personable demeanor.
  • Requires proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.

Work Environment:

Customer settings: This position is based in customer settings and will require work in and out of doors, including in attics, basements, small-confined spaces, and rooftops.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, crawl, or kneel in confined spaces. The employee may be required to lift up to 60 pounds, and must be able to climb ladders, enter crawl spaces, stand on roofs, and move up and down stairs safely.
  • This job requires travel in a personal vehicle.
