Reports To: Chief Engineer
Position Summary
Garnet Hotels is seeking dependable and skilled Hotel Maintenance Technicians to support our dual-brand Marriott property in Matteson, Illinois.
The Maintenance Technician will perform preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and daily work orders across both hotels. This position helps maintain the safety, appearance, and functionality of guest rooms, public areas, restaurants, meeting spaces, offices, and back-of-house areas.
The ideal candidate has strong mechanical skills, maintenance experience, and a commitment to excellent guest service.
Key Responsibilities
  •  Perform preventive maintenance and repairs throughout both properties. 
  •  Complete guest-room maintenance requests promptly and professionally. 
  •  Troubleshoot basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical issues. 
  •  Repair doors, locks, lighting, drywall, flooring, ceilings, furniture, and fixtures. 
  •  Maintain public areas, meeting spaces, restaurants, offices, and back-of-house areas. 
  •  Inspect guest rooms and hotel facilities to identify repair needs. 
  •  Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and equipment failures. 
  •  Assist with painting, carpentry, construction, and renovation projects. 
  •  Help maintain hotel grounds and exterior areas. 
  •  Complete and document work orders and preventive-maintenance activities. 
  •  Follow OSHA, fire-safety, life-safety, and company requirements. 
  •  Safely operate hand and power tools. 
  •  Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. 
  •  Support the Chief Engineer with special projects and operational priorities. 
Qualifications
  •  Previous hotel, commercial, apartment, facilities, or construction maintenance experience is preferred. 
  •  Working knowledge of general electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and drywall repairs. 
  •  Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 
  •  Ability to operate hand and power tools safely. 
  •  Strong organizational and time-management skills. 
  •  Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  •  Positive attitude and commitment to guest service. 
  •  Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-ins. 
  •  Marriott hotel maintenance experience is a plus. 
  •  EPA Section 608 certification is a plus for candidates performing refrigerant-related HVAC work. 
Physical Requirements
  •  Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds. 
  •  Ability to climb ladders and frequently bend, kneel, reach, push, and pull. 
  •  Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. 
  •  Ability to perform physically demanding work safely.
