Job Status: Full-Time
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Salary: Pay commensurate with experience.
Essential Functions Statement(s)
  • Examine marine watercraft (both in the water and in dry dock) to diagnose malfunctions and damage, work in tandem with service writers to schedule and give accurate quotes for repairs
  • Perform maintenance in a variety of settings, such as mobile servicing at client locations
  • Work quickly and efficiently, while keeping safety as the first priority
  • Winterize and de-winterize watercraft. Ensure critical evaluation and double checks are performed.
  • Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement of all major components of marine watercraft including: engines, drives, generators, transmissions, blowers, carburetors, starters, pumps, and props
  • Install and repair components of the electrical system including: lights, instruments panels, ignition systems, and audio accessories.
  • Safely operate hoists, hydraulic jacks, forklifts, tractors, and other marine mobility implements
  • Prepare watercraft for boat shows to ensure they are loaded properly, trailers are inspected, and boats are shrink wrapped
  • Continuously familiarize yourself with our inventory of new and used watercraft to successfully service them and prepare for delivery
  • Ensure all warranty work is completed according to manufacturer's guidelines and the Big Thunder standard
  • Ensure certifications are updated, and plan to attend courses that will enhance employee's skill set
  • Maintain the shop area daily and advise Service Manager of necessary repairs to facility, as needed
  • Perform final walk through to ensure watercraft is in optimal condition prior to being released to clients or sent for delivery. Arrange immediate service to rectify outstanding issues

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: High School Diploma or GED is required
Experience: 2-4 years' marine service experience, experience with current brands a plus
Computer Skills: General computer skills required, will train on specific systems
Certifications & Licenses: Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a Class E drivers and boaters license. Marine Technician Certification from a reputable institution or manufacturer a plus
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Typical shop environment with moderate noise and exposure to heat and cold. Outdoor and marine environment may contain uneven and slippery surfaces. Noise level may increase substantially upon interaction with watercraft.
