The Entry-Level Staff Accountant will support the financial operations of the company by performing a variety of routine accounting tasks. This role is designed for a detail-oriented professional looking to build a foundation in corporate accounting, with a primary focus on maintaining the general ledger, assisting with month-end close processes, and ensuring data integrity across financial reports.
Key Responsibilities
- General Ledger Management: Prepare and post monthly journal entries for routine transactions such as accruals, prepayments, and business expenses.
- Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile subsidiary ledgers (Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable) to the general ledger.
- Month-End Close: Assist the senior accounting team in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes to ensure deadlines are met.
- Full-Cycle AP: Process vendor invoices, verify approvals, and code expenses to the correct GL accounts. Prepare weekly payment runs (ACH, Check, Wire).
- Billing & Collections: Generate and distribute accurate client invoices. Monitor aging reports and conduct professional follow-ups on overdue accounts to ensure timely cash flow.
- Vendor & Customer Management: Reconcile vendor statements and resolve billing discrepancies. Maintain accurate master data files for all third-party entities.
- Inventory Reconciliation: Reconcile physical inventory counts against the perpetual inventory system. Investigate and resolve variances related to shrinkage, damage, or reporting errors.
- Costing Support: Assist in monitoring unit costs and ensuring inventory valuations are recorded accurately in accordance with company policy.
- Journal Entries: Prepare and post monthly entries for accruals, deferrals, and inventory adjustments.
- Fixed Assets: Assist in maintaining the fixed asset register, including recording additions, disposals, and calculating monthly depreciation.
- Audit Support: Prepare schedules and provide supporting documentation for internal and external auditors.
- Compliance: Ensure all financial records are maintained in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and company policies.
