Overview

*This position is remote. CHLA requires a primary residence in CA prior to start date.

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The trauma team provides a complete continuum of pediatric trauma care, combined with an active program of education, research and prevention, in addition to maintaining CHLA's verification as a Level 1 Peds Trauma Center. The Trauma Registrar collects and collates trauma patient care data for Los Angeles County's regional database, (Trauma and Emergency Medical Information System - TEMIS); Abstracts data from charts and billing office; Enters data in standard format; Performs ICD-10 coding, and AIS Injury Severity Scoring on all trauma patients' diagnoses. Designs TEMIS reports for analyzing trauma data for quality improvement and research activities. Inputs additional trauma data as needed for trauma related projects and additional databases as needed.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 2+ years' related experience working in trauma registry/trauma registrar role. Extensive training in statistical methodology, data collection and analysis techniques, medical science, medical record practice (navigation and data extraction), word processing, manuscript and grant typing mandatory. Typing skills of 65 wpm. ICD-10 coding course completion, AIS Injury Severity Scoring and CPT Coding course completion. Proficiency with National Trauma Data Set/Trauma Quality Improvement Program data collection requirements preferred.

Preferred experience: extensive training in statistical methodology; experience with manuscript and grant writing/submission; experience with LA County trauma registry and Trauma One.

Education/Licensure/Certification: High School graduate or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree Preferred. Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Accredited Record Technician (ART) preferred. Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS) or Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CSTR).

Schedule : Monday - Friday, Day shift.

Pay Scale Information

$55,702.40-$74,256.00

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates who meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description.
