Job description

About Us:
American Filter Manufacturing (AFM), located in Rensselaer, Indiana, is a growing manufacturer specializing in filtration solutions that support a wide range of industrial and commercial applications. Our products serve customers across multiple industries where quality, reliability, and performance matter.

AFM is part of HCI Filtration, a North American network of filtration manufacturing and distribution companies with operations across the United States and Canada. Through this partnership, AFM combines the agility and culture of a local manufacturing facility with the resources, collaboration, and long-term growth opportunities of a larger organization.

At AFM, we are building more than products โ€” we are building scalable systems, strong teams, and a culture focused on continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence.

Job Summary:
American Filter Manufacturing (AFM) is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our Quality Management System (QMS) at our Rensselaer, Indiana facility.

This role will play a key part in implementing and sustaining an ISO 9001:2015 compliant quality system, supporting document control and engineering change processes, developing quality performance metrics, and driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization.

The Quality Engineer will work closely with engineering, production, and leadership teams to improve processes, solve quality-related challenges, and help build scalable systems that support operational excellence and future growth. While the primary focus of this role is supporting AFM operations, the position will also collaborate within the broader HCI Filtration organization as quality programs continue to expand across U.S. operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a quality-focused professional who enjoys problem-solving, process improvement, and helping shape the future of a growing manufacturing organization.

Responsibilities:
ย
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of an ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Assist in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality documentation
  • Coordinate and maintain document control processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and revision management
  • Support Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) to ensure timely implementation of process and product changes
  • Partner with engineering, production, and leadership teams to improve quality systems and operational processes
  • Conduct root cause analysis and assist in corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities
  • Help identify process improvement opportunities that enhance product quality, efficiency, and consistency
  • Develop and maintain quality performance metrics, dashboards, and reporting tools
  • Support internal, customer, ISO, and NSF audits by maintaining documentation and ensuring audit readiness
  • Assist with supplier quality activities, including documentation review and performance tracking
  • Monitor and maintain NSF-related documentation, approved materials, and compliance requirements
  • Provide support and training related to quality systems, document control, and process changes
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support standardization and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, accountability, and operational excellence in daily activities
ย
Required Qualifications:
  • Associateโ€™s or Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, or a related technical field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing, quality, or engineering support role
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment with exposure to quality systems and process improvement initiatives
  • Understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and quality documentation practices
  • Experience with document control, revision management, or engineering change processes
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes and support corrective actions
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing within a cross-functional team environment
  • Ability to regularly walk production areas and interact with manufacturing operations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting or working within an ISO 9001:2015 environment
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
  • Experience in filtration, industrial manufacturing, or nonwoven manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with NSF compliance or regulated manufacturing environments
  • Experience with ERP systems and quality tracking/reporting tools
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma Green Belt, or similar certification preferred

We are committed to investing in our employees by offering a competitive compensation and benefits package, including:

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Company-Paid Life Insurance
  • 401(k) with Company Match
  • Paid Time Off and Paid Holidays
  • Opportunities for Professional Growth and Development
  • A collaborative team environment focused on continuous improvement and long-term success

If you are passionate about quality, problem-solving, and helping build scalable systems in a growing organization, we encourage you to apply and grow with us at AFM.
