The Position

Serves as the production accounting subject matter expert for manufacturing-related financial processes within DPM US at Novo Nordisk. The role ensures accurate accounting treatment of manufacturing transactions, inventory valuation, standard costing, period-end close activities, and production-related financial reporting while maintaining a strong control environment. This position supports audit readiness, operational decision support, and continuous improvement of production accounting processes in a regulated manufacturing setting, with compliance to IFRS, applicable accounting policies, and Novo Nordisk governance requirements.

Relationships

Reports to Senior Manager or above. Interacts with Accounting, Production, Supply Chain, Finance, and Global Accounting stakeholders at Novo Nordisk.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure accurate accounting of production-related transactions and manufacturing activities within the assigned DPM US scope at Novo Nordisk
  • Validate production cost allocations and inventory-related postings to ensure compliance with IFRS, Novo Nordisk accounting policies, and internal financial governance requirements
  • Manage inventory accounting processes and controls, including valuation of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods inventory
  • Support standard costing methodologies and annual cost roll processes, ensuring consistent financial treatment of manufacturing costs
  • Analyze manufacturing cost development, inventory movements, and variances from expected results to support transparency and informed decision-making
  • Drive month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities within the production accounting area and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting
  • Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and balance sheet documentation for production accounting and inventory-related accounts
  • Maintain strong internal controls across production accounting processes and related financial postings in support of compliance and audit readiness
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with control frameworks, accounting policies, and reporting requirements
  • Identify risks in production accounting processes and implement appropriate corrective actions to protect financial integrity and control effectiveness
  • Investigate accounting discrepancies, production variances, and process deviations affecting manufacturing financial results and balance sheet positions
  • Provide accounting guidance and support to operational and finance stakeholders on manufacturing, production accounting, and inventory-related topics
  • Improve financial transparency across manufacturing operations through clear reporting, variance analysis, and account support
  • Drive standardization and automation of accounting, reconciliation, and reporting processes within the production accounting area
  • Support implementation of systems, process changes, and accounting requirements related to manufacturing activities and inventory accounting
  • Share best practices and contribute to capability development within the broader Accounting function at Novo Nordisk
  • Contribute to high-quality balance sheet governance for inventory and other production-related accounts within DPM US
  • Challenge, proactively, existing processes and drives continuous improvement, applying critical thinking, initiative, and a results-oriented mindset
  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Other accountabilities as assigned

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in an open office environment with the possibility of frequent distraction. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time. (% can change on a case-by-case basis based on the role.)

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field of study from an accredited university required and a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience within Accounting, Production Accounting, Cost Accounting, Audit, or Manufacturing Finance required
  • In lieu of Master's Degree with seven (7) years of experience, may consider a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field of study from an accredited university with a minimum of nine (9) years of relevant experience within Accounting, Production Accounting, Cost Accounting, Audit, or Manufacturing Finance required
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial reporting principles , ensuring accuracy, high-quality deliverables, and a consistently high level of attention to detail required
  • Experience with Inventory accounting, Manufacturing accounting, Standard costing, Financial close processes, Balance sheet reconciliations and Internal controls required
  • Experience working with SAP or other ERP systems required
  • Advanced Excel and analytical skills required
  • Professional proficiency in English required
  • Experience from pharmaceutical, biotechnology, manufacturing, or other regulated industries preferred
  • Experience supporting external and internal audits preferred
  • Knowledge of IFRS and manufacturing accounting requirements preferred
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA preferred
  • Experience with process improvement and automation initiatives preferred
  • Professional accounting certification (CPA, CMA, ACCA, HD(R), State Authorized Public Accountant, or equivalent) is considered an advantage preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment required
  • Ability to communicate complex accounting topics in a clear and structured manner required
