Job description

Associate Manufacturing Technician – Downstream Operations

Location: Wilson, NC (100% Onsite)

Shift: Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Potential shift to 2nd shift/night shift or construction area assignment in 2027)

12+ Months Contract

Position Overview

We are seeking an Associate Manufacturing Technician to join our team in Wilson, NC. In this role, you will execute technical manufacturing processes and support daily production activities in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) biopharmaceutical environment. You will work closely with experienced Manufacturing Technicians, maintain equipment, follow and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Execution: Execute technical and manufacturing-support procedures according to SOPs, batch records, and established curricula.
  • Downstream Operations Support: Assist with downstream processing activities, including chromatography, ultrafiltration/diafiltration (UF/DF), viral inactivation, and drug substance formulation/fill.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Accurately complete documentation in SOPs, logbooks, and batch records. Maintain strict adherence to cGMP requirements, safety guidelines, and EHS policies.
  • Equipment & Alarms: Assist with equipment setup, maintenance, and operational checks. Learn alarm troubleshooting and basic system diagnostics.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement programs, review non-conformances, and contribute ideas to optimize safety, quality, yield, and efficiency.
  • Team Collaboration: Maintain effective communication with team members, participate in daily shift updates, and support flexible schedule adjustments to meet production targets.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in a cGMP biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment (0–3 years total experience).
  • Education: High School Diploma / GED with Trade School completion, Associate Degree, or equivalent technical training.

Technical Skills:

    • Direct experience or strong working knowledge of downstream operations (e.g., Chromatography, Ultrafiltration / Diafiltration (UF/DF), Viral Inactivation, Drug Substance Formulation/Fill).
    • Familiarity with Batch Records, SOPs, logbooks, and SAP (preferred).
    • Knowledge of continuous improvement principles (Lean, 5S, Six Sigma) is a plus.

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

    • Must be able to perform gowning procedures in cleanroom/controlled environments.
    • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods.
    • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.
    • Willingness to work onsite in a construction/expansion environment as facility needs evolve in 2027.
