Position Summary:
The Production Lead assists the Department Supervisor in coordinating daily operations within their respective departments to ensure safety, quality, and productivity goals are met. This position serves as a working leader on the production team. The Production Lead will support team members on the floor, facilitate communication between employees and department supervisors, and help the supervisors drive continuous improvement across all processes. The Production Lead should become an expert in department thru-put and ways to optimize and ensure efficiency amp; productivity of their departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Department Supervisor/Manufacturing Managers in overseeing daily production schedules and workflows to meet delivery and thru-put targets.
  • Act as a point of contact for employees on the floor and help the Department Supervisor with communicating priorities, resolving minor issues, and escalating concerns when necessary.
  • Training and onboarding of new employees, providing hands-on guidance and technical support as needed.
  • Monitor work progress and verify part quality, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Coordinate material flow, tooling needs, and machine readiness to minimize downtime.
  • Help maintain accurate production records, timekeeping, and reports.
  • Recommend and assist with implementing process improvements for efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Fill in for the Department Supervisor during absences or as needed.
  • Promote a clean, organized, and safe work environment by ensuring compliance with all safety and 5S standards.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and cross-departmental communication to identify production challenges and develop solutions.
  • Motivate and mentor employees to achieve production goals and uphold company values.

Required Qualifications:
Education amp; Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, equipment operation, and safety practices.
  • Ability to read blueprints, interpret work instructions, and use measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, tape measures, height and depth gauges, etc.)
Skills amp; Competencies:
  • Demonstrates leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; leads by example.
  • Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, ERP systems).
  • Collaborate with Department Supervisor to ensure that the department’s employees are working productively, efficiently, and delivering on thru-put goals.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and holds themself and others accountable.
  • Strong time-management and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced production setting.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.
  • Must be comfortable wearing required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
