Position Description
The Production Lead supports daily manufacturing operations by coordinating team performance, monitoring production metrics, and reinforcing quality and safety standards within Applied Medical's medical device manufacturing environment. This role bridges production team members and area leadership, ensuring that production schedules, engineering requirements, and quality expectations are executed accurately and efficiently. The Production Lead contributes to operational excellence through real-time performance tracking, team training, and cross-functional communication, supporting high-volume manufacturing, lean production practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor daily labor hours, key performance indicators, and production tracking reports using web-based manufacturing systems and enterprise resource planning tools.
  • Oversee daily production schedules to ensure production targets, quality standards, and delivery timelines are achieved.
  • Train new team members on production processes, standard operating procedures, and quality requirements to ensure consistent performance and compliance.
  • Support the team leader by reinforcing direction, clarifying expectations, and ensuring consistent communication across the production team.
  • Review engineering drawings, shop order operations, and manufacturing sequences to ensure accuracy and adherence to documented processes.
  • Perform detailed product inspections using appropriate measurement tools and quality control equipment to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards.
  • Ensure production lines are supplied with required components, materials, and documentation to prevent workflow interruptions.
  • Facilitate communication between production, quality assurance, engineering, and other departments to maintain operational alignment and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Identify and escalate safety, quality, efficiency, and team member concerns to area leadership for timely resolution.

Position Requirements

  • Demonstrate experience in a cleanroom environment with exposure to production metrics and quality control processes.
  • Apply the ability to interpret engineering drawings, shop orders, and standard operating procedures to guide production activities.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with production teams, quality assurance, engineering, and leadership.

  • Exhibit leadership capabilities, including training, coaching, and reinforcing production standards within a team-based environment.
  • Maintain a high school diploma or General Educational Development certificate, with relevant manufacturing or leadership experience preferred.
