Manager of Finance

With an independent, National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center that is ranked top 5 in the nation for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report at its core, City of Hope’s uniquely integrated model spans cancer care, research and development, academics and training, and a broad philanthropy program that powers its work. City of Hope’s growing national system includes its Los Angeles campus, a network of clinical care locations across Southern California, a new cancer center in Orange County, California, and cancer treatment centers and outpatient facilities in the Atlanta, Chicago and Phoenix areas.

The successful candidate:

The Manager of Finance is responsible for providing support to ensure achievement of hospital and system wide initiatives.  Key responsibilities will include the management, development and execution of monthly operations reporting, trend and variance analysis of key drivers, revenue cycle decision support, new service line assessments and capital investment evaluation and decision support. The role will work with System FP&A, site operational leaders and executives to develop, implement and monitor operating budgets and initiatives.

The Manager of Finance will work with department leaders, clinical leadership, IT, and Finance to conceive, develop, implement and drive continuous improvement in business analytics, delivering timely and accurate information. The role will be tasked daily with serving as a business partner of choice to provide value added insights to hospital-wide leaders and departments.  There will be critical emphasis on operational Finance with a focus on service line growth, cost efficiency, productivity and benchmarking and supporting work force planning. 

Position Qualifications:
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or General Business
  • Minimum Experience: At least three to five years of experience in healthcare, business analytics, operations analysis, or accounting/finance is required.
  • One to three years of supervisory experience is strongly preferred  
Skills/Abilities: Key requirements of this role include:
  • management skills, tenacity, a proactive nature,

  • self-discipline, excellent communication skills, people and process/project management skills,

  • ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure along with the ability to influence people at all levels of the organization

  • Attention to detail and accuracy are a must

  • “Expert” level skills in Microsoft applications including Excel and PowerPoint are required
