Job description

Job Summary

This position is focused on the RF design, analysis, and manufacture of antennas, antenna feeds, stationary and mobile antenna systems, and related components.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works as part of an integrated product team under the direction of a lead RF Engineer and Program Manager.
  • May support multiple programs/products simultaneously.
  • Provide effective and efficient design support during the conceptual design, detailed design, integration, and test phases of a product development program, with the goal of achieving on-time completion of assigned tasks.
  • Prepare and present design and analysis summary material during internal and external design reviews.
  • Support component and antenna system level RF and electrical testing.
  • Support business development activities by providing assistance during proposal efforts, as needed.
  • Documentation of RF designs using ThinKom records retention procedures.
  • Additional responsibilities may include system integration and product support.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Skills and/or Experience Needed

  • BS in RF, Electrical Engineering, or Physics.
  • 2+ years of experience in the field of RF Engineering desired but not mandatory.
  • Basic knowledge of electromagnetics, antennas, waveguides, transmission line theory, and RF polarizers.
  • Previous antenna design experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience using EM software such as ANSYS HFSS™ is highly desirable.
  • Prefer candidates with a thirst to learn and to become practiced in the art of novel antenna technologies.
  • Position also requires knowledge of higher-level computer programming languages such as C or FORTRAN.
  • Experience with mathematical design tools such as MathCad and MATLAB is highly desirable.
  • Basic computer programming skills with ability to apply programming to engineering problems.
  • Technically proficient in MS Office products.

  • Must have excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in written form.
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively work with ThinKom personnel as well as suppliers and customers.
  • Ability to effectively present information in team meetings and design reviews.


Additional Requirements

  • Must be eligible to obtain and hold a US DoD Security Clearance in support of US Government contracts/subcontracts.
  • Follow ThinKom corporate policies and design procedures.


Physical Demands

  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.
  • This position uses a computer terminal to access, input, and retrieve data.
  • This position may be subject to interruptions that may cause a change in immediate priorities and/or work focus.
  • While performing duties to this position, employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, and/or bend.
  • May occasionally lift and/or move files or boxes up to 40 pounds.
  • May be subjected to occasional irregular or extended work hours.
  • May be required to sit for extended lengths of time.
  • Must be able to work in an environment that may be subjected to occasional loud noises, hazardous materials and chemicals.


Salary Range - $80,000 - $120,000
