General Description
The purpose of this position is to provide coaching leadership and to assist the Head Coach in the management and administration of all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division II program resulting in a positive and beneficial intercollegiate experience for student-athletes.
Essential Job Duties
  1. Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and conducting all team practices, training sessions, and competitions.
  2. Contribute to the development and implementation of match preparation, tactical planning, scouting reports, and individual player development plans.
  3. Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes in alignment with the University of Montevallo's academic standards, athletic philosophy, and roster needs.
  4. Support a comprehensive recruiting strategy through on-campus visits, off-campus recruiting, video evaluation, and relationship-building with club and high school coaches.
  5. Assist with video analysis, scouting, and the use of technology to enhance player development and competitive performance.
  6. Promote the academic success, retention, and personal development of student-athletes in collaboration with academic services and athletic support staff.
  7. Assist with team operations, including travel planning, equipment management, facilities coordination, and contest administration as assigned by the Head Coach.
  8. Support eligibility certification, recruiting documentation, and daily program operations to ensure full compliance with NCAA, Gulf South Conference, University, and departmental rules and regulations.
  9. Maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with athletic department staff, campus partners, and University support services.
  10. Assist in the planning and execution of camps, clinics, fundraising initiatives, and alumni engagement activities in coordination with the University Foundation.
  11. Represent the University of Montevallo and the women's soccer program at professional meetings, alumni events, community outreach initiatives, and campus functions as requested.
  12. Foster a positive, competitive, and inclusive team culture that reflects the mission, values, and standards of the University of Montevallo Athletics Department.
  13. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach in support of the women's soccer program.

Additional Duties
Essential Job Duties are intended to be examples of duties and are not intended to be all inclusive. There will be other duties as assigned. The individual holding this position will serve as a representative of the University and, as such, shall promote a positive impression by demonstrating a collegial and professional customer-service approach at all times.
Additional duties may include, but are not limited to:
Oversee strength and conditioning, ACL prevention, speed, and agility training, and organize and coordinate team travel/accommodations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of basic principles of coaching/team supervision, strength and conditioning;
  • Ability to effectively organize and coordinate team travel and coordinate recruiting activities;
  • Ability to maintain team discipline and instill proper ethical and moral standards;
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Certifications, licenses, professional designations, or other qualifications preferred for this position include:
• Certification from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America or United States Soccer Federation
