Job Description
Wolfspeed is looking for a Senior Director of Product Management who will be responsible for product management and technical marketing of our new and future silicon carbide (SiC) power products. Focus for the position is on the global market, existing and future customers, and working with the internal technical and operations organizations in conjunction with inside and outside sales to translate technical requirements to and from the company.
General Position Description
This position requires a candidate with the creativity, vision, and detail to breakdown and match customer requirements with internal technical capabilities and find new and innovative ways to solve problems. The right candidate will have a significant impact in the next product platform innovations that are introduced into the market. The position interacts directly with our power customers and internal team, operations personnel, R&D, and commercial sales to deliver the right products to the right customer at the right time.
Position Responsibilities
  • Develop market requirement documents and product requirement documents with prioritized features, corresponding justification, target market applications and business plan support
  • Lead technical presentations with customers and sales on technical issues related to the products and applications
  • Champion internal development of new discrete MOSFETs, Diodes, and Modules to support customer demand and drive qualification of these products at the customer
  • Awareness of market trends and directions from Voice of the Customer and publication review
  • Be an expert on competitors' capabilities and product positioning in the market while understanding the end market uses and requirements
  • Work with sales on product specifications for special business opportunities
  • Portfolio management from market launch through obsolescence of all discretes
  • Interface with R&D, NPI engineering, Production/Operations, and Quality to build and sustain the product lines
  • New product roadmap understanding and initial product definition, definition of formal product plan
  • Generation and distribution of sales tools, application notes and/or technical guidelines
  • Field and customer training; establish ongoing methodology and processes
  • Understand cost models to support product pricing strategies

Position Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, or similar technical degree
  • 12+ years of semiconductor product management, product marketing and/or applications engineering
  • Good general knowledge of both the sales and semiconductor product manufacturing processes
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communications skills to a broad audience of influences
  • Willingness to travel, including internationally as necessary
  • Self-motivated with strong drive to achieve business objectives
  • Ability to blend the technical and commercial to deliver a balanced approach to problems
  • Strong analytical skills and experience

Highly preferred skills and certifications:
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or similar technical degree
  • Knowledge of wide bandgap semiconductors
  • System level power electronics knowledge
  • Experience supporting customers, direct sales and distribution sales partners
  • Experience with new product launch and new business development
  • Understanding and implementation of multiple marketing tools and approaches
  • Understanding of basic semiconductor device technology and assembly
