In addition to our fresh offerings, our talented Seafood Chefs prepare delicious, gourmet-style seafood dishes ready for customers to enjoy at home. Our Seafood clerks display seafood products and related items in a careful, clean, neat, and expedient manner while ensuring that all product is fresh, rotated and well stocked for our customers. Seafood clerks make recommendations for which fish or seafood products to purchase at the counter. Individual will address all customer service questions and concerns.

Responsibilities

  1. The Seafood Clerk will display counters and cases are arranged, stocked, and replenished with ice and seafood product
  2. Check and verify freshness of seafood items in live tanks. Verify and remove spoiled product and rotate merchandise
  3. The Seafood Clerk will assist customers on seafood products, prices and service
  4. Offer assistance in finding or suggesting the selection of seafood product. Prepare special seafood fillets and cuts as requested by customers.
  5. The Seafood Clerk will weigh, price, and package customer selections using weigh scales, label machine and wrapping machine
  6. Process merchandise according to production guidelines and follow established sanitation standards
  7. The Seafood Clerk will keep displays iced according to company policy and change ice as scheduled
  8. Receive and unload seafood delivery truck and store product in designated area
  9. Receive supplies, organize and maintain inventory of newly received merchandise
  10. Monitor cooler, display cases, and tanks for correct temperature to assure product quality
  11. The Seafood Clerk will maintain a clean and neat department, free from safety hazards; report hazards to management.
  12. Work in a safe and proper manner, exercising safe food handling practices.
  13. Exercise proper safety practices on use of all equipment
  14. Operate and clean seafood equipment and tools
  15. Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  1. 18 years of age or older
  2. HS Diploma or equivalent
  3. Must have at least 1 year of experience working in a seafood department of a grocery store or seafood store
  4. Working knowledge of seafood preparations and displays within a seafood department
  5. Ability to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service
  6. Must be able to speak, read and communicate in the English language
  7. Ability to interpret, understand and follow instructions and solve problems
