With 15 distribution centers strategically located throughout the nation, HF Foods Group aims to supply the increasing demand for Asian American restaurant cuisine.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

The Senior Buyer will research and purchase products for the distribution center. The Senior Buyer is responsible for leading purchasing activities, optimizing supplier performance, and driving cost savings while ensuring continuity of supply. This role requires strategic sourcing expertise, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to mentor junior team members. The Senior Buyer plays a key role in supplier negotiation, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead sourcing initiatives for assigned categories, including supplier selection, RFP/RFQ processes, and contract negotiation
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies that align with company goals
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement value engineering initiatives
  • Analyze market trends and commodity pricing to support purchasing decisions
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, delivery, and cost targets.
  • Evaluate supplier performance using KPIs and drive corrective actions when needed.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service-level agreements (SLAs).
  • Mitigate supply risks and develop contingency sourcing plans.
  • Oversee purchase order processes and ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery
  • Resolve complex supply, pricing, or quality issues
  • Improve procurement processes, systems, and workflows

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MUST be bilingual in English and Chinese.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Efficient typing skills, with an emphasis on accuracy and legal aspects of purchasing.
  • Ability to compile information and make decisions.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:

  • At least 10 + years of Seafood purchasing/procurement experience
  • A high school diploma or above is required.
