Job description

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Safety Program Leadership
  • Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive workplace safety programs aligned with federal, state, and aviation-related regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct facility safety audits, ensuring timely completion of corrective actions.
  • Support industrial hygiene activities and oversee incident prevention and reduction initiatives.
  • Maintain emergency preparedness plans tailored to aviation environments, including hangars, aircraft movement areas, and fuel-related operations.
  • Fulfill Designated Employer Representative (DER) responsibilities, as applicable.

Security Operations Management
  • Oversee administration and maintenance of security technologies, including access control systems, cameras, and door hardware.
  • Partner with IT and airport authorities to ensure security systems remain functional, compliant, and aligned with airport requirements.
  • Coordinate with concierge and front desk teams to maintain alignment with security protocols, visitor management, badging processes, and airport access rules.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
  • Perform safety risk assessments and support applicable components of the FAA aligned Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Partner with the Director, Air Safety on crossover safety concerns and incident trends, recognizing the Director's full authority for product safety and FAA compliance.
  • Ensure workplace safety processes effectively integrate with broader enterprise safety frameworks.

Training & Capability Development
  • Collaborate with the Learning & Development (L&D) team to align and modernize EHS-related training across all locations.
  • Support development and delivery of consistent, effective safety and security learning programs.

Data, Reporting & Systems
  • Manage digital EHS platforms used for tracking compliance activities, documenting reporting requirements, monitoring corrective actions, and generating safety/security performance metrics.
  • Ensure accurate, timely data that enables informed, data-driven decision making.

Leadership, Culture & HR Partnership
  • Promote a proactive, regulation-aligned safety culture across the organization.
  • Collaborate with HR Partners to provide routine employee and labor-relations coaching to leaders.
  • Support timely and consistent resolution of workplace concerns while reinforcing expectations for safety, accountability, and operational integrity.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Security Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in workplace safety, security operations, or EHS roles, ideally within aviation or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, ATF, FAA, DOT, and relevant aviation safety standards.
  • Experience managing safety audits, emergency preparedness, and security technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using digital EHS or security management systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including influencing cross-functional partners and developing team members.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., ASP, CSP, CHSP, Certified Security Professional) preferred but not required.
