POSITION SUMMARY

The Safety and Security Manager will manage the Safety and Security Department relating to all areas of safety and security. The Safety and Security Manager will oversee the dispatch operations, security personnel in the SJCC, parking garage and surrounding theater venues . The Safety and Security Manager will report to the Director of Safety, Security and Parking.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage daily operation of the Safety and Security Department
  • Supervise security officers ensuring they perform with proper conduct
    • Ensure all SOP’s are reviewed and followed
    • Ensure proper uniform and hygiene are followed
    • Conduct disciplinary action as appropriate
    • Recognize for positive work
  • Create weekly schedule and post them in advance
    • Identify security coverage needs
    • Manage PTO requests
  • Complete daily time edits for accurate and timely payroll
    • Manage attendance and punctuality of the security officers
    • Prevent unnecessary meal break penalties
  • Assign tasks using spiceworks for accountability
    • Create and manage rotation duties for all shifts
    • Assign monthly life safety audits
    • Manage fleet inventory
  • Act as emergency first responder
    • Relay information to Police, Fire and Ambulance during emergencies
    • Report incidents to DOSSP in real time
    • Call 911 for emergencies
  • Assist the Director of Security with:
    • Facilitate safety and security meetings
    • Facilitate quarterly fire drill in all venues
    • Assist with investigations regarding employee conduct
    • Ensure confidentiality with employee-related matters
    • Attend client preconference meetings and present safety and security overview
    • Conduct interviews of security candidates
    • Conduct site inspections with clients
    • Meet and greet 3rd party security companies
    • Meet and greet city leaders and assist with logistics
    • Meet and greet city inspectors and assist as needed
    • Become certified trainer in CPR, First aid & AED
    • Manage office supplies and assist with ordering
    • Provide content for annual performance evaluation
    • Become forklift certified
    • Liaison with DOT and SP+
    • Assist with workers’ compensation and liability claims
    • Attend daily pre-shift meetings

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Possess valid Security Guard Card License
  • At least five (5) years of security knowledge and experience
  • At least two (2) years of Security leadership/management experience required
  • Must be able to identify and quickly respond to potential problems, altercations and conflicts and follow reporting procedures
  • Provide excellent customer service and have good people skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and basic reporting skills
  • Ability to maintain calm while working under pressure during emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Must be flexible to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed including nights and weekends
  • Proficiency in operating and managing video surveillance
  • Walk and stand throughout shift
  • Ability to work extended hours, holidays, weekends, or night shifts as required

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Certified in CPR, First aid and AED
  • Possession of a valid CA Drivers’ License
