Key Responsibilities
1. Own PSP and Bank Relationships
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key acquiring banks, PSPs (e.g. PaySafe, Stripe, Nuvei), and card networks.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for escalations, pricing reviews, integration matters, and compliance alignment.
  • Coordinate onboarding of new processors or banking partners across multiple regions.

2. Drive Commercial and Compliance Discussions
  • Lead contract negotiations, fee structures, and volume-based pricing discussions.
  • Collaborate with Compliance and Legal teams to ensure all offerings meet regulatory and bank partner requirements.
  • Help shape product go-to-market strategies by balancing innovation with partner constraints.

3. Cross-functional Execution
  • Work with Product, Engineering, Risk, and Compliance to ensure technical integration and business logic aligns with partner policies.
  • Monitor and analyze payment data and success rates to drive improvements.
  • Stay informed on regional payment trends, scheme mandates, and emerging threats (e.g. chargeback rules, network changes).

4. Strategic Expansion
  • Identify and evaluate new partnership opportunities, including regional PSPs, local acquirers, or alternative payment methods.
  • Support market expansion by navigating regulatory/partner entry requirements.

Qualifications
  • 5-10 years of experience in payments, fintech, or banking, with a focus on partner-facing roles.
  • Strong understanding of Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover network rules, interchange, chargebacks, and compliance frameworks.
  • Proven track record of working with payment processors, acquirers, gateways, and card schemes in North America.
  • Direct experience optimizing payment success rates / authorization performance with measurable business impact.
  • Strong network of industry contacts (banks, processors, card networks, fintechs).
  • Familiarity with fraud prevention, tokenization, 3DS, network tokenization, and PCI compliance.
  • Proven ability to negotiate commercial agreements, ideally with PSPs or acquiring banks.

Preferred Background
  • Experience at a PSP, payment processor, acquiring bank, or card scheme.
  • Hands-on experience with cross-border payments, stored value products, or alternative payment methods (APMs).
  • Prior experience at payment networks (Visa/Mastercard/Amex), major acquirers/processors (e.g., Fiserv, Global Payments, Adyen, Stripe, Worldpay).
  • Experience launching cross-border payment solutions or optimizing authorization/settlement performance.
  • Exposure to crypto, digital wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay), or alternative payment methods is a plus.
  • Knowledge of North American regulatory frameworks (e.g. PCMLTFA, FINTRAC, MSB licensing).
