Job Summary
The Assistant Project Manager assists the Project Manager in the overall project direction, completion and financial outcome. The APM also administers and fosters both the owner and subcontractor relationships for assigned projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist PM in coordinating activities of a project to ensure cost, schedule, document control and quality standards are met.
• Prepare and assist with pre-installation meetings
• Attend client weekly meetings with PM and keep detailed meeting minutes for internal distribution.
• Prepare and distribute meeting minutes
• Assist QA/QC Manager with project logs (NCR's, RFI's, Punch lists). Draft, submit, and track all RFI's and distribute to all team members as appropriate. Review project logs (RFI's, Submittals, PCO's) with Superintendent on a weekly basis. Pursue and monitor submittals and track deliveries of materials. Verify all submittal conformity to plans & specifications.
• Collect and distribute coordination drawings from appropriate subcontractors. Review drawings with PM and Superintendent. Set up coordination meetings for PM to chair.
• Assist PM and provide input on master project schedule
• Review and inform PM & Superintendent of deficiencies for daily reports, force reports, and safety documentation.
• Review Subcontractor change orders for PM
• Complete take-offs as requested by PM for potential change orders.
• Assist PM with contacting potential subcontractors and verifies scope of work before issuing contracts.
• Support PM on creating harmony and synergy between the project team.
• Work collaboratively with outside parties (I.e. the design team, etc.) to accomplish client goals.
• Demonstrate effective relationship building within the project team and throughout the Company. Keep field team members (i.e. Superintendent) informed and active in decision-making.
• Be completely familiar with contract documents: including commercial terms, staffing requirements, drawings, specifications, and client milestones. Review Owner contract and become familiar with terms & conditions
• Identify long lead items & critical path and inform PM & Superintendent
• Provide support to field staff
• Work to obtain all necessary permits as requested by the PM.
• Develop a project submittal log and obtain designer's approval. Manage submittal log and ensure all submittals are processed promptly.
• Consistently follows/enforces the Company's safety procedures and policies
• Monitors and checks work or information and plans and organizes time and resources efficiently even under the pressure of multiple demands.
• Ensure all material is being procured and delivered per the project schedule.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred but not required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, excel, PowerPoint, outlook, etc.) required
• Experience with Primavera P6 preferred
• Experience with construction management/estimating software preferred
• Strong Communication skills required.
• Ability to work effectively with multiple individuals in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to travel preferred but not required
• Employment contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
