Job description

Position Overview
The Field IT Technician is responsible for providing on-site technical support for our technology systems, focusing on the POS systems at various car wash locations, under the general direction of the local Field IT Supervisor, corporate IT Operations Manager and local business leadership. The position requires on-site presence during regular business hours and may be required to perform work during evenings and weekends. This hands-on role is critical in ensuring uptime and operational continuity of Point of Sale (POS) systems, Wi-Fi, cameras, signage, and other site-level technologies. The technician will serve as the frontline support for field operations, coordinating with the centralized IT support team and infrastructure team as needed.
Essential Functions (Other Duties as Assigned)
Site Technology Support:
  • Install, configure, and maintain POS systems, network equipment (routers, switches, wireless access points), site kiosks, printers, and surveillance systems at car wash locations.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in the field and escalate to Tier 2/3 support as needed.
  • Ensure all site equipment is functioning optimally and aligned with IT standards.

IT Field Operations:
  • Perform scheduled site visits for preventive maintenance, hardware upgrades, and inventory audits.
  • Respond to urgent IT service tickets that require onsite support to minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors for specialized installations or warranty repairs.

Deployment & Projects:
  • Assist with technology rollouts for new site openings, including POS and network setup.
  • Participate in IT infrastructure upgrade projects (e.g., router replacements, signage installations, camera replacements).
  • Support project documentation by capturing installation notes, diagrams, and hardware configurations.

Documentation & Communication:
  • Maintain detailed records of hardware inventory, configurations, and site-level incidents.
  • Communicate effectively with site managers, vendors, and IT leadership to ensure clarity and alignment during onsite visits.
  • Train site personnel on basic IT troubleshooting for supported technologies.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required: technical certification or associate degree in electronics, information technology, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in equipment maintenance, preferably within the care wash, quick lube, convenience store, or petroleum service industries
  • Experience with troubleshooting electronic systems, reading wiring diagrams, and using diagnostic tools
  • Valid driver's license required with clean driving record; OSHA certification preferred
  • Field experience supporting multi site organizations, preferably in the retail industry.
  • Basic knowledge of POS systems and IT fundamentals.
  • Experience working and comfortable operating in a fast-paced organization, with an M&A-driven growth strategy, where system consolidation, acquisition integration and speed to market are key success factors.

Work Environment & Travel:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders or stairs as needed during maintenance activities
  • Proficient in using hand tools and diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Comfortable working in various environmental conditions including exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures
  • Willingness to travel to various locations as required with occasional overnight says, travel is 50-75% depending on operational needs
