KPI is looking for an experienced estimation professional whose primary role will be to lead and manage the Estimation team. This role contributes to enabling KPI's success by developing accurate, competitive, and compelling cost proposals, elevating the quality and consistency of our estimates, driving Sales win % through well-supported bids, increasing communication across internal business units, and optimizing the economics of KPI's business. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Mentor and develop the capabilities of estimators to improve the accuracy, speed, and quality of project cost estimates. 
  • Drive team performance through management of targets, metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for material handling, automation, and systems integration projects from concept through final bid. 
  • Analyze client requirements, scope of work, and design criteria to develop well-supported and competitive estimates. 
  • Collaborate with the Consulting, Solutions, and Engineering teams to ensure estimates accurately reflect design intent and project scope. 
  • Work closely with Client Account Executives and the Sales team to support bid strategy, pricing decisions, and proposal development. 
  • Maintain and improve estimation tools, templates, databases, and processes to increase consistency and efficiency across the team. 
  • Review and validate subcontractor and vendor quotes as part of the estimation process. 
  • Participate in post-project reviews to incorporate lessons learned into future estimate accuracy. 
  • Ensure all estimates are completed on time and meet KPI's quality and margin standards.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: 
    • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience in Supply Chain or MHE systems integration. 
    • Five or more years of experience in project estimation within a material handling, systems integration, or distribution/fulfillment environment. Proven track record of accurate estimates with measurable outcomes. 
    • Experience estimating a broad array of material handling applications including conveyors, sorters, storage systems, AGVs, robotics, and controls. 
    • Must have strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail. 
    • Requires knowledge of standard business and construction practices as well as the ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize cost data. 
    • Ability to communicate estimates and pricing rationale using well-organized written reports, presentations, and one-on-one interactions with levels ranging from project engineers to C-suite executives. 
    • Advanced user of Excel; proficiency in AutoCAD, PowerPoint, and ERP/estimating software is a plus. 
    • Ability to travel up to 25%.
