A Taste Of What You'll Do

Join us at Gallo New Jersey (GNJ) as a Finance/Accounting Manager and play a pivotal role in driving financial excellence for our New Jersey Distributor. In this position, you’ll oversee finance, accounting, and compliance with GAAP standards while managing our system of record (VIP) to ensure accurate sales and inventory data. You’ll provide strategic financial and business leadership, partnering with cross-functional teams to evaluate the impact of projects, systems, and transactions, and deliver insights on profitability, budget performance, and operational effectiveness.

Your responsibilities will include managing the proper setup and daily operation of VIP, maintaining data integrity, streamlining processes, and ensuring timely and accurate accounts payable functions. You’ll reconcile and process Retail Incentive Programs (RIPS), develop automated reporting tools, and analyze discrepancies to drive improvements. You’ll lead the preparation, review, and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports, providing recommendations that enhance performance and identify cost savings opportunities.

Compliance will be a key focus, including month-end and year-end close activities, general ledger analysis, and coordination with internal and external auditors. You’ll ensure all financial controls meet corporate policy and GAAP requirements, while managing state and local tax filings, regulatory reports, and adherence to applicable rules and regulations.

As a people leader, you’ll hire, train, and develop a high-performing distributor accounting/finance team, fostering collaboration across departments and serving as a backup for the Distributor Services Manager. You’ll guide your team with best practices, encourage innovation, and lead with ownership and accountability. This role also includes participation in corporate projects, union negotiation preparation, and initiatives that require bold thinking and intrapreneurship.

What You'll Need

  • Master’s Degree plus 3 years of experience in Accounting, Finance or Business Management reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance plus 6 years of experience in Accounting, Finance or Business Management reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Minimum of 5 years Supervisory or Managerial experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting and financial principals and financial statements.
  • Experience in budget preparation and controls.
  • Experience with LEAN concepts and implementations.
  • Proven experience working with/summarizing large amounts of data.
  • Experience in working with cross functional teams.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications. Advanced Excel knowledge needed.
  • Skilled in maintaining an ERP/Mfg. system, SAP and VIP experience a plus.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
