Job description

Position Summary

Manages, organizes, directs and controls MEP fabrication, tool and warehouse logistics. Provides leadership and direction to logistical aspects of the workforce and ensures that all deliveries to each project are coordinated and completed in a timely, efficient, and safe manner. In addition, this role manages Department of Transportation requirements for department fleet.

Position Details

  • Provides leadership and direction to supervisors and employees. Ensures duties and tasks are clearly assigned and completed efficiently.
  • Serves as technical adviser for tools and logistics. Partners with and maintains frequent communication with key project personnel. Ensures they are kept informed on logistical requirements and addresses issues.
  • Maintains liaison with other departments (OPS, purchasing, quality control, safety, field, etc.) to ensure all required materials are delivered on-time and correctly. Maintains close communication with project leaders on shipping/receiving and storage needs.
  • Manages inventory maintenance of production materials and supplies.
  • Develops and implements processes to improve productivity and product quality.
  • Trains, evaluates and maintains personnel qualified for warehouses specific process within logistics and tools.
  • Oversees the implementation safety program, adherence to OSHA rules and regulations, and compliance with shop safety requirements for all personnel, including employees and visitors.
  • Provides coaching and performance feedback to direct reports; participates in hiring and termination decisions.
  • Support strategic initiative as needed.

Qualifications 

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in logistics, distribution, purchasing, and inventory control, including people management experience
  • Advanced understanding of logistics, distribution, inventory control, purchasing, scheduling and cost control
  • Ability to supervise and motivate groups
  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems before major difficulties develop
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • General understanding of union policies, procedures and standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid MS Office skills, including Word, Excel, etc.
