Job description

About the Program

Thunder Fellows is a youth development initiative based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, expanding access to opportunity for high school and college students pursuing careers in sports, entertainment, and business. Powered by the Oklahoma City Thunder, the program delivers immersive learning, mentorship, professional exposure, and community engagement that connect students to meaningful career pathways. 

Position Overview

The Fall internship program runs from August 24th, 2026, through December 4th, 2026. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience delivering programming, supporting students and families, and collaborating with community and business partners. If you’re passionate about youth development and social impact, we encourage you to apply!

In this role you will:

  • Support daily program operations, including event setup, logistics coordination, and student engagement

  • Assist in planning and executing Thunder Fellows events such as open houses, onboarding sessions, guest speakers, capstone showcases, field trips, and professional development workshops

  • Coordinate summer programming logistics and contribute to overall program execution

  • Maintain and update program records, including student data, attendance tracking, and impact reporting materials

  • Update alumni records and assist with communication to mentors, employers, and industry partners

  • Draft and distribute communications to students, families, alumni, school partners, and community stakeholders via email, text, and digital platforms

  • Capture photo and video content during select sessions and events to support documentation and marketing efforts

  • Create and update visual materials, including presentations, dashboards, charts, and printed collateral

  • Prepare instructional materials, organize program supplies, and support inventory tracking

  • Provide administrative support, including scheduling assistance, data entry, filing, printing, and internal calendar coordination

  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and eligible to receive course credit for the internship

  • Passion for community with an emphasis in student engagement and workforce development

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook; PowerPoint a plus

  • Organization and time management skills to successfully prioritize and complete projects

  • Self-starter who is also comfortable with team collaboration and supervision

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, and resilience in the face of change

  • Strong interpersonal talents including speaking, writing, and listening skills and experience using various modes of communication including text and social media

  • Possess significant knowledge of and/or connections to the Tulsa area

Additional Information

This is an in-person internship, reporting to the Operations Specialist, Thunder Fellows. The work schedule requires 15-29 hours per week. The primary work location will be the Thunder Fellows headquarters located in Tulsa’s historic Greenwood District. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required for occasional travel. Physical requirements of the job include driving, bending, walking or standing for extended periods. This internship does not provide housing or transportation. This internship position does not guarantee a full-time position with the Thunder upon completion.
