Job description

Humans of HR is an upcoming boutique recruitment agency in Vancouver and is very quickly becoming the go-to agency for hiring and placement of skilled corporate Professionals. Combined with our vast network and extraordinary customer-centric approach, we are the obvious choice in helping you find your next home.

At Humans of HR, we partner with organizations that are building strong operational teams and investing heavily in leadership, safety, and employee growth. We’re currently supporting a well-established industrial organization in their search for a Manager, Learning & Capability Development.

This is an opportunity to build something meaningful from the ground up.

The organization is undergoing significant growth and transformation and is looking for someone who can create structure, drive adoption, and establish a modern learning function that supports both frontline and leadership development across the business.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in hands-on environments, enjoys building systems from scratch, and understands how learning directly impacts operational performance.

The Opportunity

The Manager, Learning & Capability Development will lead the creation and ongoing operation of an internal learning program designed to strengthen employee capability across the organization.

You will oversee everything from LMS implementation and content strategy to learning pathways, onboarding programs, and operational training initiatives. This is not a purely strategic role — it requires someone who can both design and execute.

You’ll play a key role in helping the organization standardize training, strengthen leadership capability, support succession planning, and improve overall employee development across multiple business units.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Leading the implementation and administration of the organization’s Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Managing learning content migration, organization, and ongoing optimization
  • Developing practical, role-specific training programs and learning pathways
  • Partnering with operational leaders and subject matter experts to build effective learning content
  • Supporting onboarding, leadership development, safety training, and skills development initiatives
  • Driving consistency in training practices across teams and locations
  • Facilitating select in-person learning sessions and supporting train-the-trainer programs
  • Tracking learning effectiveness, participation, and adoption metrics
  • Identifying opportunities to improve employee capability and internal development processes
  • Supporting broader talent and performance initiatives through learning integration

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in Learning & Development, Training, Organizational Development, or a related area
  • Experience implementing or managing a Learning Management System
  • Proven ability to build structured training programs or learning frameworks
  • Strong instructional design and content development skills
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with operational and leadership teams
  • Ability to simplify complex operational knowledge into practical, engaging learning experiences
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, logistics, construction, or operational environments is considered a strong asset

Success in This Role Looks Like Someone Who…

  • Takes initiative and builds structure where it doesn’t yet exist
  • Operates with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Balances strategy with execution
  • Is comfortable influencing leaders and driving adoption across the business
  • Understands how adults learn in real operational environments
  • Can manage multiple priorities, stakeholders, and systems simultaneously
  • Brings a practical, solutions-oriented mindset to learning and development

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Opportunity to build and shape a learning function from the ground up
  • Visible, high-impact role with strong executive support
  • Stable and growing organization with long-term growth plans
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package
  • Collaborative team environment with strong leadership partnership
  • Opportunity to make a tangible impact on employee development and operational success

At Humans of HR, we support the development and growth of our candidates to reach their full potential. If you are thinking about your next career move and the above role is just the right fit, please send us your resume along with a cover letter in confidence and one of our consultants will be in touch for a confidential discussion.
