Located in Chicago, Illinois, the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) is seeking a hands on and strategic communicator to add to their leading-edge communications and engagement team. Reporting to the Director of Communications and Engagement, the Communications Manager will oversee and develop key communications channels, including the quarterly Osteopathic Family Physician journal, the ACOFP Blog and the website.

WHAT YOUR ROLE IS:
Communications
  • Inform communications strategy, support implementation and monitor metrics
  • Oversee the curation, development and dissemination of weekly blog posts
  • Provide content and content dissemination strategies for and review posts, as needed, on association social media platforms
  • Draft all speeches and presentations for staff and ACOFP leaders, as well as press releases
  • Manage all ACOFP website content, including the ACOFP Foundation website

Publications
  • Serve as managing editor for OFP journal, overseeing the entire publications process, including managing the article selection process, writing the president's message, copyediting and working with external vendors
  • Curate and edit content for ACOFP's AI-driven e-newsletters
  • Other related duties as assigned

WHAT WE REQUIRE:
  • 5+ years of experience in a communications position with publications experience; proficiency in website management; association and/or healthcare experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, English or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong and proven written communication and editorial skills (American Medical Association (AMA) and/or AP-style highly preferred)
  • Excellent collaboration skills, as well as the ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Proficiency in email platforms (e.g., Informz, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc.); content management systems (e.g., WordPress, RISE, Drupal, etc.); and association management software (e.g., iMIS, Nimble, Sales Force) preferred
  • Experience using social media, other electronic communications and Microsoft Office products, including remote connection tools like Microsoft Teams
  • Project management expertise, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and experience with project management tools
  • Experience working with volunteer groups preferred

MORE DETAILS YOU'LL WANT TO KNOW:
  • You can expect to travel up to two of ACOFP's annual conventions and possibility a few state society meetings at most
  • You'll report to the Director of Communications & Engagement, based in Chicago, IL
  • Candidates must be able to show proof of vaccination for COVID-19 upon being hired
  • New office location is 8501 W Higgins Chicago (Rosemont/O'Hare), featuring easy access to public transportation (connected to the Cumberland Blue Line)*
