Job description

Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls is seeking a Staff Chaplain to assist our Spiritual Care team in providing care for patients, their loved ones, and staff. Reporting to the Manager of Spiritual Care, this role provides spiritual care in inpatient, outpatient, and residential settings at our hospital, cancer center, and assisted living facilities. The chaplain will serve as a liaison to local faith communities and coordinate Advanced Care Planning initiatives with community and regional agencies.

Our team members have the privilege and responsibility of facilitating rites, rituals and practices based on identified needs, and cultivating healthy relationships with the faith community in our region. We are looking for individuals who are comforting, inclusive, hopeful and compassionate to join our healing team as we support the mission of Lake Region Healthcare to help people in our region improve their health.
Hours/Shifts
64 hours biweekly, occasional on-call duty for evenings/weekends/monthly as scheduled.
Compensation
Hourly wage range: $27.14-$31.64. Please note that final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications and internal equity considerations.

  1. Education / Special Skills: A Master of Divinity (or equivalent advanced degree in pastoral theology) is preferred, though all applicants with relevant pastoral experience are encouraged to apply. A minimum of one (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is preferred. The Manager of Spiritual Care (who is a CPE educator) may assist with planning toward completion.
  2. Demonstrated theological, emotional and psychological understanding and application of chaplaincy, worship, professional ethics, and pastoral counseling in a healthcare setting.
  3. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with local clergy and faith-based partners.
  4. Proven ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships with hospital staff, medical staff, patients and families across clinical units (or church leaders, parishioners, community in pastoral setting).
  5. Ability to adapt to the unique spiritual, emotional and ethical needs of specific nursing and clinical units (e.g., acute care, oncology, assisted living).
  6. Knowledge of the physician/patient relationship in healthcare settings and awareness of legal and ethical implications.
  7. Ability to prepare statistical and narrative reports on spiritual care services provided; excellent oral and written communication skills and basic computer proficiency are required.
  8. Successful completion of pre-employment health screening.
  9. Ability to attend in-person in required.
