Job description

The Coder II must accurately code and abstract diagnoses and procedures occurring during the patient's episode of care, in a timely manner, in order for the facility to receive proper reimbursement.
  • Associates Degree strongly preferred.
  • One year of direct position related experience required.

Experience required as follows:
  • Coding in hospital, clinic or physician office.
  • Basic computer knowledge required with evidence of Windows training and/or experience with demonstrated competency.
  • Maintenance of certification through continuing education is required.
  • Must be skilled in the application of coding guidelines set up by various third party payors.
  • Required Certifications/Registrations
  • RHIT or RHIA credential from the American Health Information Management Association

Physical Demands:
  • Prolonged sitting.
  • Some standing, lifting (50 lb.), carrying, stooping, reaching.
  • Periods of prolonged work at a computer terminal.
  • Prolonged periods of reading, deciphering handwriting.
