Reports To: Operations Manager

JOB SUMMARY: The Mowing Crew Lead is responsible for leading a landscape maintenance crew of up to 4 members to perform landscape maintenance services throughout Des Moines and surrounding areas. The Crew Lead is responsible for promoting jobsite safety, completing jobs with great efficiency while providing excellent customer service, and exhibits pride and quality workmanship.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:

  • Work closely with Operations Manager and Sales team

  • Lead crew members in performing landscape services including planting, mulching, maintenance, weeding, insect & pest control and fall & spring cleanups

  • Manage crew effectively and efficiently to produce an excellent and profitable product

  • Maintain work vehicle and tools to be clean, organized, and operational on a daily basis

  • Train and develop crew members in best practices of industry and company standards

  • Complete daily activity reports and timesheets and submit daily

  • Forecast equipment, labor and material needs to ensure efficient production

  • Direct, oversee and participate in work performed by your team. This is a hands-on position and requires this person to perform work activities alongside their team

  • Interact with clientele to ensure job satisfaction

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in Landscape Maintenance Industry

  • General horticulture knowledge

  • Commercial Pesticide Applicator 3OT License or ability to obtain one within 20 days of hire

  • Proficient in operating landscape equipment

  • Valid Driver's license and a clean driving record

  • Must have valid First-Aid and CPR cards or be willing to obtain one

  • Must be self-motivated and possess strong leadership skills

  • Must be professional in appearance and actions

  • Must be well organized with the ability to multi-task

  • Must have the ability to be proactive, plan ahead and problem solve to minimize disruption, errors, risks and to keep project on-task, within budget and on-schedule

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to reach, climb, kneel, lift (up to 50 lbs.) and walk for extended periods of time

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends and during adverse weather conditions as warranted by workload and schedule

  • Ability to read and interpret daily work orders

  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors
