Who You Are:

Versar is seeking a Site Manager / Construction Manager to work at a project job site in Gadsden County, Florida. The Site Manager / Construction Manager shall be physically located in Florida for a project duration of up to 36 months.

The Site Manager / Construction Manager will monitor and oversee the work performed by the Versar Team and ensure it is conducted in accordance with contractual requirements and agreed schedules along with the Versar designated Construction Quality Manager and Site Safety and Health Officer.

* This position is contingent upon award.

What You’ll Do:
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of field operations for a complex USACE environmental remediation and construction project.
  • Direct and coordinate site personnel, subcontractors, equipment, materials, site logistics, access, staging areas, and work zones.
  • Manage execution and sequencing of contaminated soil/sediment excavation, screening, handling, transportation, and disposal activities.
  • Oversee major remedial construction activities, including vertical barrier wall construction, earthwork, RCRA composite cap installation, stormwater controls, groundwater extraction/treatment, and site restoration.
  • Implement the approved Remedial Action Work Plan, Site Management Plan, Soil Removal/Grading/Backfill Plan, Soil Screening Plan, and other project work plans.
  • Coordinate closely with the Versar Project Manager, CQM, Site Safety Officer, technical staff, and subcontractors to maintain safe, compliant, and efficient field operations.
  • Monitor construction progress, productivity, resource requirements, and schedule performance; identify and resolve field issues that could affect cost or schedule.
  • Support field resolution of RFIs, design questions, differing site conditions, changes, constructability issues, and coordination challenges.
  • Ensure field activities comply with contract requirements, drawings, specifications, permits, environmental regulations, and applicable USACE requirements.
  • Maintain effective communication with Versar Program/Project Managers, USACE, EPA, subcontractors, property owners, and project stakeholders while supporting daily reports, field documentation, as-builts, and project closeout.
What You’ll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, environmental science, geology, or a related field preferred; significant demonstrated construction/remediation experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 10+ years of experience in construction, environmental remediation, heavy civil construction, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in field management, superintendent, construction management, or site management role involving civil construction, earthwork, Superfund/CERCLA environmental remediation, or similar complex field activities.
  • Demonstrated experience managing construction/remediation subcontractors and multidisciplinary field crews.
  • Demonstrated experience with contaminated soil excavation, hazardous waste handling, earthwork, site preparation, or environmental remediation.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, field logistics, equipment utilization, production tracking, and schedule management.
  • Experience working on CERCLA/Superfund, RCRA, federal, military, or other environmentally regulated projects strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Federal and state environmental requirements applicable to remedial construction, including RCRA, CERCLA, hazardous waste transportation, stormwater/erosion control, and applicable Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) requirements.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification, current and in good standing.
  • 30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety and Health training preferred.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with USACE EM 385-1-1 requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively in a field construction environment and coordinate multiple subcontractors and activities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite in Gadsden County, Florida for the duration of the project.
  • Must possess and maintain an active and valid Florida driver's license without restrictions.
  • Must be proficient in English, both written and verbal, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Successful results of pre-employment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen.
  • Comply with company drug and alcohol policy.
  • Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate’s start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience managing USACE environmental remediation or construction contracts.
  • Experience with USACE Resident Management System (RMS).
  • Experience with RCRA hazardous waste remediation and Subtitle C disposal.
  • Experience with barrier wall construction, slurry walls, RCRA caps, geosynthetics, or landfill cover systems.
  • Experience with contaminated soil/sediment excavation and off-site disposal.
  • Experience with groundwater extraction, dewatering, water treatment, or hydraulic containment systems.
  • Experience working in or adjacent to wetlands and residential properties.
  • PMP, CCM, CMI, CMAA, or other construction/project management certification.
  • USACE-related construction management or quality control experience.
  • Experience with federal construction documentation, RFIs, submittals, daily reports, change management, and closeout.
