The Director of Business Development provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the company's business development and revenue growth initiatives within the highway construction industry. This role is accountable for identifying and capturing new market opportunities, cultivating strategic client and partner relationships, and aligning business development strategies with organizational objectives to drive sustainable competitive positioning and long-term growth.
Essential Functions
  • Leads the development and execution of business development strategies to identify, pursue, and capture new market opportunities aligned with organizational growth objectives
  • Allocates resources for effective communication and coordination with clients, industry partners, and internal stakeholders to advance business development initiatives across markets and project types
  • Drives enterprise-wide growth by architecting and championing strategic initiatives that deliver measurable revenue outcomes, enhanced customer relationships, and sustainable competitive advantages
  • Enables cross-functional collaboration and informed decision-making by translating market intelligence and technical expertise into strategic insights and actionable guidance for senior leadership
  • Cultivates strategic partnerships and organizational trust through exceptional stakeholder engagement, relationship management, and negotiations that strengthen business relationships and expand market presence
  • Leads, develops, and mentors business development partners by establishing performance expectations, fostering accountability, building leadership capability, and cultivating a high-performing, growth-oriented culture aligned with organizational objectives

Education Qualifications
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, or a related field. We value a combination of education, training, and handson experience and will consider equivalent experience in lieu of formal education requirements.

Experience Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in business development, sales, account management, or related commercial leadership roles
  • 5+ years of experience leading and developing high-performing sales or business development teams
  • Construction, infrastructure, transportation, aggregates, asphalt, or related industry experience preferred

  • Ability to champion the organization's mission and core values, fostering alignment, accountability, and a high-performance culture
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills with the ability to build consensus and strengthen stakeholder relationships
