Job description

APM Terminals
Appetizer
At APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, we enable global trade and drive sustainable growth. What drives us forward is a mindset of always improving - observing how work happens, identifying what creates value, and removing what gets in the way. We constantly look for smarter, simpler, and safer ways of operating. If you thrive in environments where people value learning and are committed to continuously improve daily operations, join us and be apart of our journey.
What we can offer
At APMT Terminals, we foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to improvement is driven by Lean principles, ensuring that every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers. Experience a diverse, multinational workplace where your operational insights directly influence how we work.
  • Contribute to large-scale construction projects within an active marine terminal, influencing safety outcomes in complex operational environments
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives through safety observations, audits, and stakeholder collaboration
  • Work in a structured yet dynamic environment where HSSE innovation and operational excellence are prioritized
  • Benefit from training and certification opportunities across OSHA, environmental compliance, and emergency response disciplines
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external regulators, gaining exposure to multi-agency coordination and compliance best practices

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate HSSE execution for construction activities, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy, regulatory requirements, and site-specific procedures
  • Develop and implement HSSE policies, procedures, and systems that support operational safety and compliance across construction projects
  • Conduct field inspections, audits, and safety walkthroughs to identify hazards, assess risks, and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Lead incident reporting, investigations, and root cause analysis, while monitoring HSSE KPIs and driving performance improvements
  • Oversee contractor compliance, including verification of certifications, safety performance, and adherence to CHASP, JSAs, and method statements
  • Manage regulatory interface and compliance activities, supporting inspections and documentation for OSHA, EPA, DEP, USCG, CBP, and Port Authority
  • Support SIMOPS coordination in high-risk areas, ensuring safe execution of activities near active roadways, berths, and terminal operations

What we are looking for
  • A mindset focused on continuous improvement, actively identifying safer and more efficient ways of working while eliminating operational inefficiencies
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Management, Emergency Management, or related field (Master's preferred)
  • 2-5 years of HSSE experience within construction, transportation, marine terminals, or heavy infrastructure environments
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910, 1926, 1917) and environmental compliance frameworks (EPA/DEP requirements)
  • Experience coordinating with regulatory agencies and managing inspections, audits, and compliance documentation
  • Practical expertise in high-risk activities such as LOTO, confined space entry, excavation, lifting operations, and marine-side work

Salary: $108K - $120K
Schedule: First Shift (6 am - 3 pm) and Second Shift (3 pm - Midnight)
