Airport Manager
Cape Cod Gateway Airport - Barnstable, MA
The Cape Cod Gateway Airport is seeking a strategic, forward-thinking Airport Manager to lead the operation of a vital regional transportation hub. Reporting to the Airport Commission, the Manager oversees a dynamic team and a network of aviation and non-aviation tenants.
The Airport Manager is responsible for the daily operations, regulatory compliance, capital improvement planning, fuel and lease management, and community relations. Operating under the broad policy direction of the Airport Commission, the Manager ensures the airport follows all federal, state, and local requirements, while serving as the Airport's primary liaison to the Town of Barnstable, FAA, TSA, and other stakeholders.
In addition to leading airport operations, maintenance, emergency response, and capital project planning, the Manager is also responsible for leading budget development, financial oversite, and fuel sales operations. The position also serves as the Airport Security Coordinator and oversees all security protocols and all aspects of personnel recruitment, training, evaluation, and labor relations/union negotiations. The Airport Manager represents the airport at Town Council, state, and federal meetings and is tasked with promoting favorable community and tenant relations through outreach and engagement efforts.
The ideal candidate is an adaptable, diplomatic leader with exceptional communication and collaboration skills and a proactive and transparent leadership style. The Manager needs to be comfortable making high-impact decisions, fostering a culture of safety and accountability, and maintaining strong relationships with employees, tenants, government officials, and the public.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in aviation management public/business administration, or related field (Master's Degree preferred)
  • More than 10 years experience in airport or municipal operations, including at least 3 in a supervisory role
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations, grant funding, and public budgeting processes
  • AAAE certification required within one year of start
  • Pilot license desirable but not required

Must be able to obtain Massachusetts Airport Manager's License upon hire
The salary range of this position is $180,103 to $215,240 depending on qualifications and experience and includes an excellent benefits package.
