We help thousands of enterprises around the world manage their websites and secure their transactions over the internet. Partner with the best
You will lead a team of passionate developers driving Certificate workflow initiatives within the Edge Apps working group. Partnering with engineering and product teams, you will foster high ownership and engineering excellence while evolving processes for impactful execution. This role blends people leadership and technical vision, developing talent and identifying emerging technologies to keep the team industry-leading.
As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for:
  • Leading a team of 5+ full stack engineers building distributed certificate workflow systems
  • Owning system design, architecture, and SLOs ensuring scalability, performance, security, and availability
  • Collaborating with product and program leadership to define roadmaps and delivery timelines
  • Resolving complex production issues, handling escalations, and coach teams on debugging methodologies
  • Driving observability strategy implementing automated anomaly detection to identify and remediate system deviations
  • Building alignment across engineering, product, and operations while maintaining technical velocity and autonomy
  • Developing high-performing engineers through mentorship, coaching, technical guidance and career development
  • Pioneering AI automation integrating LLMs into production pipelines for autonomous reasoning and orchestration

Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
  • Have 8 years of relevant experience including 3 years leading engineering teams and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
  • Have 5 years of industry Python and Java development with SQL/NoSQL databases and 3 years of TypeScript experience
  • Have solid experience in system design fundamentals, distributed systems , Public Key Infrastructure, TLS, and orchestration workflows
  • Demonstrate proven ability in resolving complex production issues and delivering solutions under pressure
  • Possess ability to build and use automation tools to improve efficiency and operational excellence
  • Have ACME protocol, Certificate Transparency logs, Kubernetes, Boulder, and Cert-Manager experience preferred
  • Have hands-on experience building AI agents or integrating LLMs into production pipelines a plus

Compensation
Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $132,400 - $275,000/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
