Job description

Our client located in Melville is looking to add an Internet Applications Specialist to their staff. Our client is a well-known, prestigious employer with a great environment. This position offers a base salary plus a wonderful benefits package.

Overall Responsibility as an Internet Applications Specialist:

The Internet Applications Specialist will have the primary responsibility of supporting operation of the organizations marketing sites. The Specialist will work within the IT team and will directly interface with the Internet Operations Team to customize and maintain the marketing sites and to meet specific business requirements of the organization, supporting the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and Latin America. The candidate will also interface with other internal staff and external (3rd party) agencies to identify ways to more effectively leverage technologies to solve business problems.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Manage all day-to-day maintenance issues related to web infrastructure
  • Collect, produce and manage all documentation related to internet application customizations and deployment.
  • Work within IT Department to apply established processes and security protocols to internet applications.
  • Work with Internet Operations Team to develop new features and functionality.
  • Support internet development projects outsourced to third parties.
  • Support internet application deployments and projects throughout the Americas.
  • Work outside of normal hours of operation, as needed, in order to fulfill essential functions and responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with internet application tools
  • Experience with a CMS solution
  • Familiarity with sys admin of web technologies
    • Linux system administration, Windows system administration
    • Basic web security concepts, Akamai (CDN technologies)
    • Apache httpd and/or nginx (web server), Varnish (HTTP caching)
    • TeamSite/LiveSite (CMS framework), MediaBin (digital asset management)
    • Hybris (e-commerce engine), WordPress (blogging engine – used for some of our smaller sites)
    • Mercurial (source control), MS SQL Server and/or MySQL (relational databases)
    • MongoDB (no-SQL databases), Docker (containers)
    • Jira (ticketing system), Confluence (wiki)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work outside of regularly scheduled work hours as needed
  • Ability to travel up to 10% including overnight travel

Education, Skills & Experience

  • 4+ years IT/Internet Applications or Programming experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree Information Systems/Technology preferred

Salary is based upon experience but the target is and where from $95,000 to $118,000. plus a benefits package.
