Operations Manager

Location: Abilene, Tx or Quanah, Tx

Description:

The Company is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of aggregate quarry locations serving the Abilene and Quanah, Texas areas. This position is responsible for driving safe, efficient, and profitable operations across all sites while ensuring production goals, maintenance objectives, and customer commitments are consistently achieved.


The Operations Manager will provide leadership to site supervisors / foreman, production personnel, scale house staff, equipment operators, and maintenance teams. This individual will spend time at each location, ensuring operational consistency, maintaining safety standards, improving efficiencies, and developing employees.


The ideal candidate is a hands-on operations leader with experience managing aggregate quarry, mining, construction materials, or heavy industrial facilities.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of several active quarry locations.
  • Ensure all locations operate safely while maintaining compliance with MSHA, OSHA, environmental, and company regulations.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture through coaching, training, inspections, and accountability.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop site supervisors / foreman and operational personnel.
  • Establish performance expectations and hold teams accountable for safety, production, quality, and attendance.
  • Monitor daily production activities to ensure operational goals and customer demand are met.
  • Coordinate crushing, screening, hauling, and material production activities across all sites.
  • Work closely with maintenance personnel to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Review production reports, operating metrics, inventory levels, equipment utilization, and labor productivity.
  • Identify operational improvements that increase efficiency while reducing costs.
  • Manage workforce scheduling and staffing requirements across multiple locations.
  • Assist with annual operating budgets, forecasting, and capital improvement planning.
  • Travel routinely between assigned quarry locations to provide leadership and operational oversight.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in quarry, aggregate, mining, construction materials, heavy industrial, or similar operations.
  • Minimum of 3 years managing multiple crews, departments, or operating locations.
  • Proven experience overseeing daily production, workforce management, equipment utilization, and operational performance.
  • Demonstrate success leading supervisors / foreman, equipment operators, maintenance personnel, and production teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of MSHA regulations, OSHA standards, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Experience developing and maintaining a strong safety culture.
  • Working knowledge of crushing, screening, conveying, material handling, and aggregate production processes.
  • Experience coordinating preventive maintenance programs and maximizing equipment uptime.
  • Ability to analyze production reports and implement operational improvements.
  • Experience managing labor resources, production schedules, and operating costs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, and Word).
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel regularly between Abilene and Quanah quarry locations.
  • Ability to work outdoors and around heavy equipment in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience managing multiple quarry or aggregate operations simultaneously.
  • MSHA Part 46 or Part 48 certification or previous MSHA-regulated mining experience.
  • Experience with limestone, sand and gravel, crushed stone, or aggregate production operations.
  • Experience managing operating budgets and P&L performance.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy equipment including loaders, excavators, haul trucks, crushers, conveyors, and screening plants.
  • Experience with fixed plant maintenance planning and equipment lifecycle management.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills.

  • Regular exposure to heavy equipment, moving machinery, and industrial environments while following all required PPE guidelines.
