Summary of Position:

The Outsource Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing outsourced manufacturing services, supplier purchase orders, delivery schedules, pricing, and required documentation. This position works closely with suppliers, Operations, Quality, Receiving, Program Management, Engineering, and Production to ensure outsourced work meets quality, cost, delivery, and production requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Source work and maintain relationships with qualified suppliers
  • Maintain supplier database and develop new relationships with suppliers as required to maintain a strong supply base for all necessary types of sourced work
  • Visit suppliers' facilities as required to assess supplier capacities/abilities and track status of current work
  • Work with processors and build leads to develop a clear scope of work (SOW) for the supplier
  • Coordinator with program management and manufacturing departments to establish and manage budgets for sourced work
  • Obtain quotes from multiple qualified suppliers on any given project
  • Negotiate price, quantity, and delivery schedules with suppliers
  • Assess quotes and compile detailed assessments of cost breakdowns
  • Generate quote comparisons and contribute to internal supplier selection
  • Correspond with purchasing to ensure all purchase orders and procurement documents include all necessary information and follow Visioneering's standards
  • Communicate with suppliers to aid in their understanding of SOW, tolerancing, and part function
  • Adhere to Visioneering's quality systems and requirements regarding the security of proprietary and customer-owned information
  • Provide solutions and suggestions to improve company spending and sourcing strategies

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or outsourced manufacturing within a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of purchase orders, supplier quotations, lead times, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications, and purchase order requirements.
  • Knowledge of outsourced manufacturing processes and services preferred.
  • Strong supplier management, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and time-sensitive production requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively work across Operations, Quality, Receiving, Engineering, Program Management, and Production.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP purchasing systems preferred.
  • Must demonstrate self-direction and be capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • High School Diploma or recognized equivalent required.
