Job description

Place of Performance: Philadelphia Navy Yard (also known as the Philadelphia Naval Business Center, PNBC).
Hours of Operation: 7:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., five days per week, Monday through Friday, except observed Federal holidays.
Duties:
  • The Maintenance-Trades Helper assists one or more workers in the skilled maintenance trades by performing specific or general duties of lesser skill, such as: ensuring all workers are supplied with materials and tools, cleaning the working area, machine, and equipment; assisting the journeyman by holding materials or devices; and performing other unskilled tasks as directed by the journeyman.
  • May perform specialized operations or parts of a trade that workers also perform.
  • Perform other related duties as directed.

  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: None.
