Job description

Job Title: Maintenance Trade Lead

Location: Community Medical Center

Department: Plant Operations

Pay Range: $38.62 - $38.62 per hour

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The General Maintenance Trade Mechanic repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications, using hand and power tools, and testing equipment. Meets requirements as defined by applicable Department Specific Equipment Competency Checklist.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience directly related to the heating, ventilation and air conditioning field, preferably within a large healthcare facility or equivalent
  • Must possess and maintain a valid NJ State Driver's License
  • Must have required trade school or job experience to perform the functional responsibilities of the job

Certifications:

  • Certificate in HVAC&R preferred; Refrigerant Transition &; Recovery Certification Type II, III or Universal

Preferred:

  • Blue Seal Refrigeration

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full Time
  • Day Shift - 7:00am-3:30pm
  • Weekend on-call requirements

Essential Functions: 

  • Installs, operates, repairs and maintains all heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, medical gas systems and associated equipment in a technically accepted, safe and efficient manner
  • Operates chillers, fans, pumps, heat exchangers and all other equipment necessary to provide heating, ventilation and air conditioning to the facility
  • Installs maintains and repairs equipment such as but not limited to pumps, valves, radiators, fans, motors, heaters, condensate tanks, pneumatic controls, thermostats, fan coil units, refrigeration units and window AC units

  • Installs maintains and repairs steam, hot water, and chilled water piping, control and stop valves, and all related equipment

  • Performs scheduled rounds in order to inspect and verify proper operation of all HVAC equipment

  • Reviews BAS systems for proper operation of HVAC controls and systems

  • Performs filter changes in air handling units, fan coil units and window units as per schedule and/or as needed

  • Monitors and inspects work to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations

  • Follows established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards

  • Performs scheduled preventative maintenance tasks or coordinates vendors as required

  • Assigns work based on priority to subordinate trade member

  • Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc
