Job Summary At Danone, manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We are currently looking to hire a Maintenance Manager based onsite in our plant located in Eugene (Springfield), Oregon! The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the management of all aspects of plant maintenance, including automation, with a focus on predictive/preventive maintenance and machine reliability for the Eugene manufacturing site. Key ResponsibilitiesAs a key member of our plant leadership team, you will play an important role in driving our mission forward. The following responsibilities outline the core expectations and contributions for this position:Lead and develop the site maintenance team—including supervisors, automation specialists/engineers, mechanics, and parts room staff—through coaching, mentoring, and regular performance feedback.Foster a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and alignment with Danone Behaviors and IWS principles.Partner with HR to address employee relations matters and drive team engagement, including action planning from engagement survey results.Oversee maintenance planning, prioritization, and execution in collaboration with production, quality, and engineering to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.Manage overtime, workload distribution, and resource allocation to achieve cost effective maintenance performance.Maintain regular floor presence to understand issues firsthand and support timely problem resolution.Lead all safety, quality, and reliability initiatives within the maintenance function.Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, GMPs, plant rules, WISER, and Danone policies.Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment while promoting safe work habits and employee accountability.Analyze maintenance trends, equipment performance, and data to identify losses and implement improvement strategies.Provide technical expertise for mechanical, electrical, information, and process control systems while standardizing equipment and work processes.Communicate with operating departments to identify optimization opportunities and implement process control improvements.Deliver training on maintenance systems, process changes, equipment updates, and DMS tools; evaluate and qualify technicians as needed.Identify skill gaps and provide targeted training to strengthen technical capability across the team.Maintain personal professional development through corporate and external training opportunities.Coordinate facility maintenance and capital/maintenance projects with engineering, contractors, and internal partners.Plan and manage scheduled downtimes, shutdowns, and maintenance activities to support operational needs.Optimize plant energy usage through proactive monitoring and efficiency initiatives.Performs any other duties as assigned or requested.Physical DemandsWhile performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel; crouch; crawl; taste and/or smell, talk and hear.Ability to bend & stoop at waist level as well as bend & twist neck and head.The employee must regularly endure repetitive minimal to moderate lifting 10lbs up to 50lbs and occasional team lifting above 50lbs. Requires normal range of hearing and vision (including colors) to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports and results.The employee is frequently sitting at a computer/desk using manual dexterity in various computer programs.Occasionally may need to climb stairs, step ladders, stool, and stand for hours on hard concrete.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, though hearing protection is required in many areas.Work EnvironmentWork is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moderate noise and temperature variations.Work schedules could include nights, weekends and/or holidays to provide the ability to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment as business needs dictate.  Engagement in our Integrated Work SystemsEnsure adherence to plant standards and procedures (including but not limited to GMP, AIB, FDA, IWS, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, HOPE, Danone Behaviors, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE). The following qualifications outline what we’re looking for, including both required and preferred criteria for this role: Education & Experience:A high school diploma or GED is required.  A bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related field, is preferred.Formal project management training or certifications preferred. Candidates must have 5+ years of leadership experience within a maintenance, engineering, and/or technical project management role in an industrial environment, required.  10+ years' manufacturing experience is preferred.Prior experience in a food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or other high speed CPG manufacturing environment is highly preferred.Experience in leading and managing technical disciplines and budgets in a manufacturing organization, required.Prior experience leading a technical function within a TPM/IWS or other similar lean manufacturing methodology, required.  Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:    Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated ability to coach and develop team members and ability hold teams accountable.  Demonstrated understanding of predictive and preventive maintenance programs and work order systems.Demonstrated fundamental skills in influencing and persuasion.Demonstrated ability in interpersonal skills associated with developing trusting relationships.Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask.Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, MVP or other CMMS system, required.   Demonstrated ability to work in a fluid environment.Demonstrated ability to identify problems, draw conclusions, and make recommended solutions.Demonstrated ability to work self-directed with little supervision.Demonstrated ability to adjust schedule to support a 24/7 manufacturing plant, which may include working overtime, various shifts, and/or weekends, as needed.Danone U.S. is part of Danone North America, a purpose-driven company and an industry leader in the food and beverage category.
