Maintenance Technician - Decatur
This position will be working 1st shift from 6am-6:30pm

What you will do:
The Maintenance Technician will troubleshoot and repair dairy processing plant equipment, packaging equipment and supporting utility systems and equipment.
Here's a day in the life:
  • Performs highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant's facility equipment. Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runs.
  • Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, Packaging Mechanical, Refrigeration, PLC/Process Controls, Dairy Systems Mechanic, Electrical, Welding/Fabrication, and General Maintenance.
  • Reads and interprets drawings, equipment manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, tests and makes adjustments. Uses a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public.
  • Communicates effectively.
  • Acts as a team player and be able to interact harmoniously with staff at all levels of the company.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Works under pressure, meets deadlines, and is flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrates excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Regular and reliable attendance on-site is required.
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts with rotating days off.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • High school diploma or GED or 1 to 3 years related experience. Associate's degree or trade school certification preferred.
  • General plant mechanical maintenance history required.
  • AllenBradley PLC programming, Allen Bradley Panel View, Devicenet, Controlnet, and strong electrical and instrumentation background.
  • Strong background and experience working within a team.

  • Proven ability to methodically think through problems with detailed step by step processes.
  • Ability to work any shift and weekends.
  • Forklift certification required.

Working Conditions
Maintenance: Work is normally in plant environment. Can include working outside in all weather conditions, working in confined spaces and in poorly lighted areas, walking on uneven, slippery surfaces and encountering forklift traffic. Requires standing majority of shift, walking on uneven, slippery surfaces, stooping, bending and crouching and climbing ladders and stairs. Duties may include lifting up to 55 pounds and maneuvering heavy equipment and/or parts.
