Position Summary
The Maintenance Manager will oversee the repair, installation, and preventive/predictive maintenance of all plant equipment, utilities, and facility infrastructure at our Hammond, IN plant. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this role leads a team of technicians and mechanics to maximize equipment uptime, minimize unscheduled downtime, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Department Leadership: Manage and schedule maintenance supervisors, technicians, electrics, and mechanics across all operating shifts.
  • Preventive & Predictive Maintenance: Standardize and manage the facility's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for routine PM schedules, parts inventory, and work order tracking.
  • Downtime Minimization: Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment issues to restore production quickly and safely.
  • Budget & Inventory Control: Manage the maintenance budget, capital expenditure (CapEx) projects, spare parts inventory, and vendor/contractor relationships.
  • EHS & Facility Maintenance: Ensure all machinery, safety guards, electrical systems, and facility structures meet local, state, and OSHA safety standards.
  • Equipment Reliability: Collaborate with engineering and production teams on new equipment installation, equipment upgrades, and root-cause failure analysis (RCFA).
Qualifications
  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or equivalent trade certifications/experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in an industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Skills:
    • Strong mechanical, electrical (PLC, controls), hydraulic, and pneumatic systems knowledge.
    • Hands-on experience implementing CMMS platforms (e.g., Fiix, Maintenance Connection, SAP PM).
    • Proven track record in developing Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) programs.
    • Excellent problem-solving, team management, and vendor management capabilities.
