The Stewart brand boasts the number one market share for freeze dried raw treats on all major digital retailers. Blackwood is exported to more than a dozen countries. BrightPet owns five manufacturing facilities and has unparalleled manufacturing capabilities in the pet industry. BrightPet is on an aggressive growth trajectory and has completed an expansion at four of the five manufacturing facilities in the last three years. This increased volume and expanded capabilities have allowed BrightPet to set new record revenue every year for eight straight years.

BrightPet Brands is actively seeking a Maintenance Manager to join our team in Salem, Oregon. The Maintenance Manager will manage facilities, equipment, and maintenance associates located at the Salem, Oregon production facilities. They will direct all activities related to supervising personnel engaged in the repair, modification, and installation of new and existing equipment and facility maintenance. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the safety and technical training for employees. They will be responsible for developing and maintaining preventative and predictive maintenance programs as well as maintaining parts and tool inventories and managing supply vendors and contractors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate all maintenance planning, scheduling, and work execution for the maintenance department.
  • Maintain appropriate equipment records and history.
  • Manage the inspection, repair, replacement, adjustment, installation, wiring and maintenance of all equipment in the plant or an assigned area, including structural, crane, mobile equipment, hydraulics, freeze drying, refrigeration, pneumatics, plumbing, and piping maintenance.
  • Direct the installation, operation, relocation, and maintenance of all operational equipment.
  • Manage all spare parts and materials inventory.
  • Create regular schedules for mechanical repair, installation, prevention, and inspection work.
  • Implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Initiate and carry out projects to improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
  • Track, analyze, and improve maintenance key performance indicators, such as

            asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, downtime, etc.

  • Ability to use various tools, including but not limited to precision tools, drill press, power saw, grinders, threaders, pipe cutters drills, pullers, hoists, wrenches, etc.
  • Ensure environmental and safety compliance of the maintenance department and plant equipment/machinery.
  • Actively participate in cost reduction, root cause analysis, continuous

            improvement, and team activities.

Essential for Success:

·       5-7 years supervisory experience

·       Experience working with and on meat processing equipment desired. Ex. Dicing and Grinding equipment, Vemag machines, Formax equipment, HPP machinery.

·       Experience building and managing Computerized Maintenance Systems (CMS).

·       Basic PLC programming knowledge.

·       Bilingual in English and Spanish would be a plus.

·       Ability to read and understand blueprints - electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic.

·       Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety training.

·       Food manufacturing, specifically meat manufacturing experience highly preferred. 

·       Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

·       Experience with industrial refrigeration.

·       Experience in troubleshooting, monitoring and general maintenance and repair.

·       Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills - ability to solve both complex and uncomplicated problems, clearly articulating decisions and a logical execution plan based on all available information.

·       Strong attention to detail.

·       Highly organized with strong time- management and prioritization skills.

·       Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

·       Seif-directed, reliable, strong initiative, and bias for action.

·       Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills to work cooperatively with team members.

·       Must be willing to and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules.

·       Willing to commute between 4 buildings within a 20-mile radius as needed.
