Job description

Maintenance Scheduler/Dispatcher
The posting is intended to describe the general content and requirements of this position and is not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.
Position Summary To perform clerical duties such as data entry, typing, filing, answering telephone, record keeping and dispatching requests for maintenance, building services/grounds, in-house construction and planning, design and construction services to Facilities Division using computerized request system. To respond to work order requests from building occupants to include emergencies, maintenance problems, building services requests, planning, design and construction requests, requested installations, modifications, repairs and adjustments, paging maintenance and building services personnel and other similar tasks. To coordinate, maintain and evaluate the UAB Preventative Maintenance (PM) System. Key Responsibilities
• Receives requests for maintenance, building services, grounds, in-house construction, planning, design and construction work via telephone and work order request documents for dispatch to Facilities Division.
• Operates computerized paging system to contact personnel within Facilities Division.
• Make equipment additions, deletions and changes to PM System and sorts and distributes PM work orders to the appropriate maintenance zones. Reviews PM work orders and makes necessary corrections prior to processing.
• Establishes and updates files of significant equipment failures and monitors files to ensure appropriate reporting, analysis and corrective action.
• Responds to and redirects departmental phone calls.
• Pages fire department, police department, elevator company or other outside entities when an emergency arises.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications
• High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of related experience required.
• Ability to type thirty (30) WPM required.
The driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicles in performance of university business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession a valid driver's license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

• Starting Hourly Range: $15.00 - $19.23 hourly (commensurate with experience and qualifications).
