Job description

Overview

Herzog Energy, Inc. is currently seeking Electrical Apprentices in Reno, NV to join our team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

*This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.

  • Conduit, duct bank install, underground DC wire install, AC feeders install, set, terminate, test & commission inverter, battery system, converters equipment. Test and terminate DC/AC feeder, install above ground Cab wire, and DC hangers. Install MC4 connectors, and all communication fiber.
  • Conduct daily QC inspections, and hazard assessments of active work zones (civil, mechanical, and electrical).
  • Participate in pre-task safety meetings, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) reviews, and Toolbox Talks with crews.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards, NEC/NFPA 70E, and company safe work procedures.
  • Support incident investigations, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Corrective Action Plan (CAP) development.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of safety observations, inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, fall protection, and energization controls.
  • Interface with project management, quality control, and subcontractors to ensure all work meets owner and regulatory requirements.
  • Support emergency preparedness drills, first aid coordination, and severe weather procedures.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and proactive communication across all project teams.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in construction electrical - renewable energy preferred.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification required.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to interpret JHAs, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must be willing and able to travel extensively to remote project sites.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This position will be physically demanding at times.  This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.

  • Work in extreme all-weather conditions; uneven surfaces; safety sensitive work environment.
  • Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds overhead; occasionally carry weight up to 75 pounds up to 10 feet.
  • Regularly push-pull with forces up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly use hands to perform activities involving grasping, turning, holding with forces up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly ascend and descend steps with a height of 28 inches carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly ascend and descend a 7-rung ladder while carrying up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequently bend, crouch, stand and sit for extended time.
  • Able to walk and work on uneven surfaces over sometimes great distances while maintaining balance.
  • Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
  • Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
